I take Clonidine for PTSD & seems to do alright. Just I notice if I stop taking it, my HR seems to go really high for a couple days. I know you can get rebound hypertension, just never thought it would make HR go ⬆️ Great video as always!

Yes it does. This is because on prolonged use of clonidine, Alpha 2 receptor is actually down regulated (which means there's lesser synthesis of Alpha 2 receptor). So when you suddenly stop the drug, there's all this release of catecholamine (norepinephrine) which cannot be regulated by the now downregulated A2. Catecholamine acts on heart, stimulates it, increases HR

Thank you! Clonidine works amazing for my Flushing of the cheeks I have social anxiety and anxiety in general and I can say without this medication there would be no way I would be able to function or go out in public! Work is a struggle and always will be I will sadly always fight flushing at a workplace job It requires stimulation at someone else’s pace. Which doesn’t work well for me physically or mentally or my blood pressure shoots thru the roof and I’m a red blushed/flushed tomato. Horrible stupid problem I wish upon no one.

@@Mixed.messages My Doctor and I settle on 0.3MG. 2x a day. I think the perfect dose is .2MG If it always to much split the pill in two. So now you have an extra MG on hand in case you need it. You might experience some feelings of being lethargic they’ll pass quickly as soon as you adjust to the medication.

@@fonzarellyplay370 Lower your dose tell your doctor it makes you sleep all day and makes you depressed.. Maybe switch to Propranolol or wait for your body to build its tolerance to the medication so you’re not lethargic or drink caffeine with it to upregulate androgenic receptors. We have 264 Million people worldwide that are depressed. Learning to control your state of mind really helps with that.

I’ve taken this at 100mcg-200mcg for chronic insomnia for about 5 months and it rarely fails to put me to sleep. Not many sleep aids work for me and I’ve tried them all. I had some side effects for the first ~1 month, dry mouth, dry eyes, constipation, dizziness and tinnitus. They’ve mostly gone now.

Drug withdrawal treatment, nicotine being one of them. Don't know about its efficacy with migraine sufferers. Depends on the knowledge of the clinicians. Depends then, on whom you ask.

I would definitely try some herbs that are safe for children of his age and melatonin before I would try clonidine it seems like something for older people. I would get a second opinion. Also, just not having sugar and having a really calming bedtime routine listening to some music taking a hot bath not watching TV before bed. Good luck.

@@taylorwilkey97how does it help with adhd?
@taylorwilkey97
@taylorwilkey97 7 ай бұрын
@@PassionLeavesATrace By shutting off excess noradrenaline. Clonidine has a sedative effect so I believe it helps with a kids hyperactivity more than his attention deficit, it makes the body feel calm or lethargic and lazy. So you don’t feel the need to fidget and move around, etc. Which results in less hyperactivity. I’m not sure about the attention deficit part possibly when someone with ADHD doesn’t feel hyperactive/fidgety, they can concentrate, possibly?

@@PassionLeavesATrace That’s funny you say that I was on Propranolol before Clonidine Propranolol sort of worked, but didn’t. Clonidine is amazing it definitely works better and in another way. That alpha agonist is a lifesaver way better than a beta blocker.

clonidine decreases the amount of norepinephrine in the prefrontal cortex. this basically eases the amount of "traffic" in the regions of the brain that control working memory and attention, which improves cognition
