@@PsychobabbleRappbefore doing a turn you always check if it’s clear. you also turn your blinker on. the car might’ve been trying to brake but if it was it would still have been too late. no turn signal means the car was oblivious to what the truck was doing and only noticed when he started turning. also your mother 😊

And look, i get it. There's a LOT going on in that cab when you are trying to take 2 consecutive turns like that. Juggling the shifter, the wheel, and trying to hit the blinker may be a lot goin on. But a signal would have told that car that the truck intended to go right...

As a truck driver and trainer myself, I can confirm that this fail falls on the truck driver 100%. First, the truck driver did not signal. 2nd the truck driver did not make sure the coast was clear. Third, improper lane change. And finally we are supposed to be highly specialized and skilled drivers. We have more training then your average everyday driver. Where are the guardians of the road. We have a responsibility to make sure that we do everything in our power to make the roads the safest possible. That includes but is not limited to sending steering wheel holders like this one back for a refresher course. I can't tell you how many times I have run into old truck dogs like myself who do a bunch of sketchy s***. We become comfortable and complacent. We have the mindset of, " I know what I'm doing, I know what my truck can do, this is my road and I'm bigger than you. So get out of my way." Most of us who have been on the road as long as I have and are driving trucks like this one, which apparently is an owner operator, have forgotten more than most newer drivers have even learned. Which in some ways makes us more dangerous than a new driver. I have a challenge for every driver out there. Go retake the knowledge, skills, and pre-trip test again for the heck of it. See just how much you really have forgotten.

Dyslexia is a neurological disability which affects someone's ability to speak, read, and write, so it's not like typing magically absolves dyslexia. As a retired trucker, especially in heavy hauls. The trucker, regardless his intentions is still at fault. He exited the far left lane into a driveway without use of turn signals. I understand his plight, and I've been there many times, I use my turn signals regardless.

Also those round fisheye mirrors pretty much eliminate blind spots. I use them to pull onto roads from an angle I can't otherwise see from my passenger side.

The truck driver was in the inside lane after his turn. The truck must wait for an opening before attempting to change lanes AND HE MUST SIGNAL TO LET THE RIGHT LANE DRIVERS KNOW YOUR INTENTIONS. @@glub__blub the camera was operating at a framerate that doesn't properly displace the turn signal. Also most toddlers even understand that semis utilize both lanes for wide right turns. Seeing that a truck is making a button hook shaped maneuver from a distance should be a clear enough indicator that you probably should yield for 1 second. But instead, the average car driver is a down syndrome retard with their face buried in their phone while theyre cruising down the road.

Professional driver here. I can confirm the truck was in the wrong. Occasionally we do need to occupy both lanes or turn from the outside lane for clearance, but he did not use his indicator and if he was watching his mirrors that wouldn’t have happened. I can easily see when a car is accelerating up on me and know whether or not I have ample time to safely make a turn. Be safe guys.

A. Your turn signal wasn’t on B. When a truck is making a wide right turn from the left lane it is the duty of the truck driver to make sure the coast is clear, not the job of traffic to stop. Therefore, he did not almost hit you, you almost hit him.

He was making a complicated turn. People need to be patient with semis. No other explanation. He should have let the semi fully complete the turn before making any moves. He could have pulled out but stayed behind until the thing straightens out. At no point was it in a lane for travel. It was widening it turn. I can see it from a mile away. But most people can’t. The semi completed their turn, they were fully in the left lane. I agree its not worth testing and doing a 3000 vs 20,000 pound vehicle collision, but truck driver was in the wrong, he absolutely did not have right of way. Just cause you are driving a heavier vehicle doesn't mean you aren't beholden to the rules of the road, dude is damn lucky the sedan managed to avoid him this could have ended his commercial license and entire career. Have patience for tiny vehicles, put your goddamn indicators on and keep them on for at least 10 seconds you clown, people are stupid and regular cars aren't gonna hurt you, you will be facing vehicular manslaughter charges for the minivan of children your negligence decapitated.@@spray_cheese

Yes! My dad's a truck driver has been driving for 20+ years So I would know a little something. As a matter of fact you are correct however the truck driver was already pulling out He's all the way out in the road so he probably already checked before that car came, in the video you can see it slowly pulling up as the truck is already out in the middle of the clear road. and you can see that his load is quite heavy. So as this dude is turning the truck the car takes the opportunity to go in between him turning, accelerating almost causing collision and crashing into the truck driver. in the situation the truck is absolutely not in the wrong, but however in this situation it is indeed the car's fault For being impatient and being reckless if they would have been hit it would indeed be the cars fault. If I'm going to be honest the truck driver has some amazing reflexes! not to mention how cool his semi looks He did the right thing in this situation. And by the way.. Yes the car did have a stop sign lol

Semi looks at fault here. Semi drivers are always supposed to yield because you hold huge loads of liability that can kill. Semi driver went from left turn into left lane and evidently tried crossing over a lane to take a right into a parking lot which I don't think legal

The truck already occupied both lanes. Blinker or not semis actually has a law the protects them in this situation. Impatience is how people end up at fault. Read your driver's manuals. Truck drivers can take up to 3 lanes in narrow streets.

Sketchy as in making a right turn exit off the road from the left lane as opposed to from the right lane in this case? The problem is drivers license bureaus don't educate Class C Drivers License holders enough about how a truck might be making a right turn in this case for example. Maybe the car shouldn't have run the stop sign in the first place. The truck driver didn't expect the car to be there yet because he thought he would still be at the stop sign or nearer to it still. Yes the truck should always use turn signal in such a situation too though and should check his mirrors too always. He probably did see him coming in his mirrors but the problem is that brakes on a truck respond a little slower than on a car.

Here's an actual answer from someone with a law enforcement background: There doesn't appear to be a stop sign, but almost every state requires a complete stop before entering a roadway from a parking lot or private property, even without a sign. However, even if there was a stop sign, it would be completely irrelevant because the near collision was not a direct result of them not stopping at a location you had already passed. In this case, even if the car hit the truck, it is 100% the truck's fault for one specific reason. Wide turns for semis are permitted in most locations depending on traffic and road conditions, but get this.... You still have to use a blinker. The entire purpose of a blinker is to warn other drivers of your intentions, which you did not do. They were driving lawfully in their lane and had the right of way for that lane. Your failure to signal caused them to leave their lane to avoid a collision, and could've gotten you at least one citation. Non LEO answer: You don't own the road and get to do whatever you want just because you're bigger. Use a fucking turn signal and stop blaming your fuckups on everyone else like most semi drivers do.

You forgot the part when even using a turn signal doesn't give anyone ROW, it's an indication of turning/changing lanes. If a truck is going to turn across a lane from the outside lane even with a turn signal he must check his mirror and make sure there's no vehicles in the lane or he's going to cut off.

in order to make the turn he has to go wide. So since he just came out of a turn going wide he had to go wide again on the far side of his next turn resulting in being across of the entrance he wanted to go into. That means he was naturally going to be in the ‘wrong’ lane to cross into the entrance. I see what your saying but that’s a little more info for why the truck driver did what he dud

His trailer is most likely still blocking his vision in the right lane as well as blocking the lane itself (notice car is passing on shoulder). I highly doubt the driver saw him until he stopped on that dime. Obviously, most of you have never hauled a trailer, let alone one over 30 feet long.

Like when two lanes open to three and you go to the new lane, I always check to make sure noone is taking the shoulder of the road, just good defensive driving. Obviously I don't hope the truck driver would be responsible for anything but I do think sometimes we just expect things to be blocking roads so we go without looking

He is faced too far away for the mirror to get the correct angle until the very last second. I'd say as fast as he stopped, he was trying his best to see anyone coming from his right side while he was "blind". Just my 25 cents!

@@Hexharlowhere in texas, the trucker MUST take both lanes before making a wide turn like that, that means put your blinker on, yield the right of way to the vehicles on the other lane, then spliting the lane and make your turn. This trucker did not yield the right of way to the car driving in the lane, that automatically would of put the blame on the trucker and he would of gotten cited for failure to yield right of way from lane change. The stop sign is irrelevant to the cituation. Now lets say the trucker successfully would of yielded the right of way and wait until it is safe to split the lane, and then proceeded to turn and then struck a car on the #2 lane, the car would be at fault because the trucker would of had the right of way ( but in the video the trucker didn't).

@@DoctorRickSanchez So because of someone else's mistake and poor driving, this person was clearly going too fast? The trucks mistakes has nothing to do with the cars speed, as this is clearly a road with a fast speed limit so they didn't speed, you have zero grounds for your judgment. People should take it a little more easy while accelerating though, generally you barely need much pressure on the gas after you first get rolling with most cars now.
