Close Encounter with A BIG Bull Elk!

Bugling for Elk from my super secret spot brings a large bull out of the trees. He cautiously walks to within 5 feet of me before realizing I was there. My tag was "Spike Only" so I could not take a shot at this trophy bull. Truly an amazing encounter.

I like how he calls in a mature bull and there are so many comments to about how his bugle needs work. Some elk sound like the worst human caller ever. He obviously got this one right.

It's a spike only tag because that is all that is allowed in some areas depending on restrictions. Don't comment if you haven't a clue.

To me anything that have hoofs as feet And grow antlers out their heads in live out the outdoors in woods is very spiritual to me.. people should respect these guys in never hunt them for sport ..

You get the tag that is available. I wanted a bull tag and only got a cow tag.

Don't forget, these are the animals that hunters think it's an accomplishment to kill. Extremely unintelligent all year round, but even more so during the rut. At some point it should occur to all hunters due to experiences like this that it's nothing to be proud of to kill these animals. Cutting off their heads and hanging them on your wall is pathetic.

No one is hunting these solely for the rack . It's the meat they're after, it's probably the best tasting meat in the deer family that will fill your freezer for an entire year.

You need to try hunting one yourself. It's a lot harder than it looks. This video shows something that is extremely rare.
