Extreme up close tornado in Madill Oklahoma on April 22, 2020. This tornado damaged town structures and lofted trees into the air before transitioning to a rope phase. Many people observed a rainbow with this tornado. Moments after the tornado struck, the sky was blue and sunny. Unfortunately it was reported that at least one person has lost their life from this twister.

There's something particularly eerie about being right under a tornado while half the sky is still clear Also Hank is absolutely psychotic for slowly driving within feet of a building being completely torn apart, and I love him for it

It’s crazy to see this video, nearly 3 years after that tornado hit. I lived in Madill at the time with my husband and our children. I had just picked them up from the daycare center when the tornado started to form. My husband called me and told me to come to Steel and Wire for shelter. I rushed there, parked my black Tahoe on the scales, and we rushed down in to the shelter that was under that building. It was like a freight train went over the top of us. I remember a truck driver coming in with a wounded hand, pouring blood, and I doctored it for him as best as I could. I worked at Atwood’s at the time too.

That's how you get the best shots. Hank knows what he's doing, he wouldn't be alive if he didn't. But still, he is putting his life on the line. I've watched a bunch of videos from chasers of this afternoon's storms, and some were pretty good. But none come even close to this video. Because the other chasers don't get close and personal with the tornadoes. :-) I use to love watching the late Kelley Williamson. He was like Hank, would drive into the outer circulation of a tornado. Loved his live streams. And no, his death was not storm related. RIP Kelley.

Typically tornadoes will follow in one direction, so if you can gauge which way it's heading, you're safe if you stay perpendicular to the direction it's heading. This isn't always foolproof, however, as we've seen from El Reno. It's rare, but tornadoes can shift path, which has cost weather-chasers their lives. Still, Hank is pretty nuts. I've always wanted to get close to some big tornadoes, but NEVER this close. All it takes is one stray plank, piece of straw or sheet metal to hit you at missile speeds and you're toast.

Believe it or not going inside of that thing the most dangerous thing would be a chance of debris coming through his wind shield . The tornado likely had EF-0 force winds , only strong enough to knock over shallow rooted tree's , and rip roof shingles , gutters and siding of houses off. Also I think for someone with 21 years of storm chasing experience , Hank knows way more about what he is doing than you do so with no respect stfu .

@@sawart6798 I don't know, I've seen a lot of tornado videos and though this wasn't one of the big ones this video really impressed me for showing such range from its hair-raising damaging phase - with that sound! - through to its beautiful structure, the rotation detail and the cloud base being pulled in, the rainbow, the roping out. This was just truly a memorable video. And though not as frightening and as powerful in its way as say the classic April 2011 videos, this I feel will be a video remembered. Anyway have a good 'un.

As crazy as that scene/experience was, I love the way you kept your wits about yourself remained quiet and when you did have something to say, you did so calmly. Once Reed gets in his yelling and screaming mode, it does become a bit annoying. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a great chaser, just nice to a balance of chasers to choose from. If I want out of his mind screaming any yelling, there’s Reed, if I want persistent chaser who takes a lot of chances and drives like a bat outta hell, then Vince is a great chaser😊
