Space Shuttle Discovery atop NASA Shuttle Carrier Aircraft 905, a converted Boeing 747-100, does two fly-bys and then lands at Dulles (IAD) airport on April 17, 2012. In between the first fly-by at 9:47a.m. and the second fly-by at 10:50, the shuttle did some sight-seeing around the Washington, DC area then one last lap before a smooth landing at 11:05 EDT. Awesome view from the south end of the runway 1R!
The Discovery will trade places with the Enterprise at the National Air and Space Museum in the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia. Enterprise is due to be shuttled out of Dulles atop SCA 905 and flown to New York where it will remain in a hangar at JFK until displayed at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.
