Border View Farms is a mid sized family farm that sits on the Ohio-Michigan border. We raise corn, soybeans, and wheat on a little over 3,000 acres.
My name is Nathan. I run this channel and farm with my dad, Mark and uncle, Phil. I started making these videos in the fall of 2019 as a way to help show what I do on a daily basis as a farmer. I get questions about how and why we do things on the farm frequently, even from my own family members, so to help explain things it's easier to just show you. I hope that I can address questions or concerns that you might have about farms and agriculture in general as well as dispel some of the common misconceptions.
I hope you enjoy my content and please ask questions as you have them. I do my best to answer anything I can.

Nathan I would have grabbed a piece of dad's lumber 1.25 wide and gage my closing wheels with a board. But you always do a great job 💪🌽👍

I always try to watch the whole thing first ...I PAUSE it to comment... then go back to fullscreen and finish and then second time thru open it again in a new tab to skip around... *I* AM MOPT A BOPT errr fingers not a bot lol

Lol........I do this all the time but I still watch you/Brock do it. I do notice that the longer your video the more commercials there are. Almost like television. Have a good day guys.

Your dealer can email you the instructions for the electric disconnect. So what your saying is you want a new high speed planter, tractor to pull it with, combine, grain cart, cart tractor, tillage tractor, tillage tools, truck and house. Works for me.😊

You will like the spiked closing wheels. I have run them for 10 years. They are way better in mud. Great video 👍

Andy, from farming,fixing,and fabricating is in the process of overhauling a jd4020. He does show what it needs to be like for iit to steer correctly .

I'm somewhat surprised that the air delivery system to each seed unit doesn't seem to need to be checked for pipe wear/abrasion, pinholes and other places where the system might leak. The same could also be true surely for any hydraulic pipework or couplings. Surely there are places where the pipework has to bend severely even when you fold up to move fields.

I would find a socket that was 1 1/4" wide and use it as a gauge.

Larson farms just got some new closing wheels for their planter go check them out I guess they are expensive

Using an oil based lubricant will cause the air cleaner gasket to swell. In this case it might be good. But normally silicon lubricant is a better option if you don’t now the material an it’s black. Good video a year from now you can do a video on how the gasket didn’t swell and I’m totally wrong.:)

I ran one row of 24 with a set of those closing wheels last year to test it. It was consistently the worst stand. Maybe it would be worth keeping 1/16th of your rows running the old rubber style. My cousin seems to like one rubber with one furrow cruiser.

The spiked closing wheels are labeled right and left and are directional.

Well the ones I put on my planter are. Each spiked wheel had R for the right side and a L for the left side. Also a arrow to show the direction of travel!

No I buy the sweetcorn to give to my customers. Not entirely sure Pioneer dealers don't have to buy their sweetcorn too.

like other people said about FED EX... you can CALL about ''missed deleveries'' but it can put a mark on the drivers record in some places that is BAD.... ;) I have friends that work in FED EX in INDY I can ask them how you can ''mention'' you have a room for dropoffs and there shouldn't be any missed dropoffs without gettin the driver in trouble if you wanna me to.... ???

Would all of this work be normal annual service? Sure looks like overkill for every year - 3,000 acres and needs that much every year? Cost of ownership.

hey Nathan, since you read these... is it better for me to try to GROUP my comments in UNDER my own 1st comment??? or is it better to just make a new comment for each ''thought'' thru the video????? ....if the algrethym uses blind comments as %'s it would be better to put each thought in each own comment.... BUT... I comment a FEW THOUGHTS thru any one video lol ;) sooooo *I* try to keep them grouped for MY OWN FINDING sanity later when I wanna or may wanna add something to it that I THUNK UP after I closed the video or went on to another one ;)

15:15 ...OCD peeps use calapers.... ummm most old farm hands woulda just RIPPED a piece of 2x4 to 1.25 thich and used that as a JIG in tween two points .... wouldn't they???? ;) thatssa what *I* woulda did.... but... used the percision measureers to VERIFY the JIG didn't JAG Lol or ZAG lol wutever hahahahahahaaha thanks for thedetail(s) ;) seriously, that's not being sarkastik.... ....I bet there are a couple people that are following your TESTING with these new parts to see if they gunna go that route NEXT SEASON!!!! *I* KNOW *I* WOULD BE IF I HAD ONE OF THOSE IMPLEMENTS ON *MY* FARM!!!! just saying....
