Looking at my family tree, I was able to trace some of my ancestors all the way up to the 16th century.. that being said, it helped dispel my view in everyone dying young.. Most ancestors even that early in the tree lived well into their 90’s but more recent modern ancestors seem to live about 60’s-70’s. Most misconceptions about old age in earlier eras are from the skewed statistics most likely of women and children dying in or shortly after childbirth. But in saying that, many of my ancestors had at least 10 children all the way down to my great grandmothers, and quite a few of them had twins. Imagine having twins pre modern medicine era. 😱

funnily, it was considered proper to be bit behind the fashions, the actresses and courtesans set the trends, others would follow when they noticed their peers following them (usually after few years). That´s why people thought Marie-Antoinette was so scandalous when she was a trendsetter and a follower of it because a queen was supposed to have conservative taste in fashion while still following it (after something new and trendy had become acceptable for proper ladies to wear).

MAKE LOVE, NOT HORCRUXES IS ONE OF THE BEST USERNAMES I'VE EVER SEEN!!!
@catelynh10203 жыл бұрын
The ironic part is that now that i have a good paying job (can actually put money aside *and* do fun things for the sake of it) i've been sewing and suddenly my wardrobe became...not vintage, but antique. My parents have called me out for looking like i stepped off the set of little house on the prarie or other historical shows. The first stays/corset i attempted made me look very scandinavian which garnered comments at the memorial day service i wore it to. Too bad we haven't been doing extended family holidays due to our current plague, otherwise i would be showing up looking pretty medieval, cloak and all.
