Thank you sir!!! Just the video I needed. Been going back and forth and people kept saying “cloud lifter cloud lifter”! I am like there are other options. Thanks for this review. Saved us all money! You’re appreciated.

Hello, thank you very much for your videos that have helped me a lot. Following your tutorials I bought the vocaster two for the Shure SM7B. However, sometimes I do notice a bit of hiss. I wonder if, although the vocaster has good preamps, it would gain a cleaner sound with the dm1 dynamite. Thank you so much.

Thank you for this video. I bought a Rode NT2A and the gain is very low. What interface do you recommend?
@kettnercreative
@kettnercreative 8 ай бұрын
These preamps won't work wtih the NT2A because it's a condenser microphone. If you're wanting an interface, I recommend the Scarlett 2i2 4th Gen, Rode AI-1, or SSL2+

Can we use the dynamite reverse? Normal use is audio interface to cable, cable to dynamite then to the mic. But if i were to audio interface to dynamite, then dynamite to cable, then to the mic. Is this possible or no effect at all? thanks in advance...👍
@kettnercreative
@kettnercreative Жыл бұрын
Yes it’s possible. It will work anywhere ‘inline’ that you put it. For best results (only slightly), you should have the dynamite as close to your mic as possible. That being said, it doesn’t really make a difference if you’re running less than 25ft fr your interface.

My story: I made the mistake of buying discount XLR cables, and they introduced a degree of line noise on a 20 foot run. The preamps, when I put them on the control desk next to the computer, amplified that line noise along with the mic signal. The result was ugly and unusable. The problem was solved by switching the position of the preamps (a pair of Cloudlifters) so that they were now just a couple feet away from the mics. Then they were only boosting the desired signal, and the line noise was effectively gone, especially since I could keep the gain low on the receiving end.

Which should I use for my audio technica 2020 XLR?
@kettnercreative
@kettnercreative Жыл бұрын
You don't need an inline preamp for the AT2020 since it's a condenser mic. In fact, it will make your AT2020 not work. You could use one with an AT2040 though!

The JFET circuitry is supposed to superior to the FET circuitry. I think the Cloudlifter sounded much fuller and richer compared compared to the DM1. Why did you not mention the circuitry?

This is SO helpful, thank you! Burning question: is this type of rig (Shure SM7B, audio interface, XLR cables, preamp) appropriate for just regular Zoom and Teams calls, to provide superior audio input, or is it over-engineering the situation? I have a Blue Yeti direct into a iMac now, and it's better than the 3-mic array on the iMac (so says my colleagues on the other end of the meetings - but is this next step even better? I'm fine with the investment if it improves the situation, but wonder if this rig is only for content creators, and not regular video calls? 2nd question, is it OK to use the DM2 instead of the DM1 preamp, as it is only $25 more and slightly better specs - but is it compatible with this rig and signal path design?

teams compresses your calls anyways, so its diminishing returns

blue yeti is perfect for your use - unless you intend to take a step into the realm of amateur-professional recording for singing or content creation

You can have one step-up the game lol Try use products like SHURE x2u, which supports XLR microphones with just USB

Trust me dude your Blue Yeti mic already does wonders on almost every platform (singing, voice overs, voice acting etc.) This Shure setup is for just taking it up to the next level of things. But, if you can blow the extra cash and it helps with your overall mentality, attitude and efficiency while in the work hours or calls then why not right? Just to share, I personally got the Fifine Ampligame AM8 just to get a taste of what dynamic mics do, plus its a USB TO PC setup, so its very convenient, but it still has the XLR capability so you can still plan to upgrade in the future like this SHURE setup.
