WOW , what a shame The Cars - You are the girl, bombed for them after a few months GREAT SONG and cool video , Im 55 i watched MTV from 1982 till 1994 ? LOVED MTV till " REAL " PROGAMMING KILLED IT

I think You Are the Girl did it’s part, but the album didn’t have anything else to appeal to general music buyers, hence it only went gold.

I wouldn’t say bombed exactly. It went to 17 on the Billboard and to 2 in the Rock charts. The Cars weee getting older and there was so much great music coming out each week back then, it is amazing it did as well as it did!
