Terry Crews comes to Club Shay Shay for a conversation with Shannon Sharpe covering the highs, lows and unexpected turns of his remarkable journey.
19:21 From the heartbreak of getting cut from the NFL to working as a security guard for Ice Cube on the set of Next Friday, Terry's anecdotes are both hilarious, heartwarming and insightful. The experience of being an extra in Training Day with Denzel Washington adds another layer to his multifaceted career. The resilience that has defined Terry's career shines through as he recounts working on Friday After Next with a homeless Katt Williams.
54:27 Terry talks about working on White Chicks with the Wayans family and how it changed his life. The Hollywood tales continue from partying with Eddie Murphy to starring in Norbit with him. The episode takes a serious turn when Terry opens up about the traumatic experience of being sexually assaulted by a Hollywood executive. The sincerity continues as Terry addresses his past controversies, like when he offered a heartfelt apology to Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade and running into them at a restaurant.
1:51:04 As if there wasn't enough flip flopping between serious and silly, Shannon confronts Terry for boycotting Magic City. The episode concludes with a poignant exploration of Terry's personal life, touching on family struggles, racial identity and the challenges faced by his wife. Terry Crews' authenticity, perseverance, and humor make this Club Shay Shay episode a blockbuster of emotions and showcase the depth and diversity of Terry's life. Don't miss the laughter, the revelations, and the unfiltered honesty shared by the incomparable Terry Crews.

It takes a great interviewer to let the person being interviewed speak without interrupting. In spite of Shannon’s experience in the NFL he never injected his input and just let Terry tell his story. Terry clearly enjoyed this interview. Another great one Mr.Sharp🙌🏽

Terry used to live in my neighborhood and go to the grocery store with his family. Same guy in person as in the interview. Got the chance to talk to him and his daughter. He was already famous, but just a regular guy and dad. His humility is legitimate. It’s always refreshing when the real man matches the public image. Glad he’s having the success he’s had. ❤😊

I'm an actor in Phoenix and one of my first big roles was being a stand-in for Terry. While other actors were making themselves scarce until filming Terry would hang out and talk to the crew and the extras. He would eat lunch with us while some other actors would go to their trailers. We talked about Flint and I recall him telling me that the recession at the time started in the Flint Michigan region and the rest of America was experiencing what Flint saw three years earlier. Terry is a real one. Stand up dude that is articulate and well mannered.... There are plenty of men that could learn from him.

I am so happy every thing worked out for him, he's so deserving of his platform. The world needs all he has to bring right now. Shannon, you have no idea how transformative this space (Club Shay Shay) is! Thank you for creating such an educational and inspirational place for us to come to. Terry Crews dropped so many gems in this interview. Here’s just a few I picked up: Do everything like it pays $1M. You don’t have forever so go for your dreams not the money. Gratitude will take you far but pride stunts your growth. Be authentic and resist comparing yourself to others. Know when to pivot into your next dream. I could feel his passion and gratitude throughout the interview. This is another amazing conversation that many can learn from.

isn't just what you do but what you don't do. Not just what you did but how you did it. Not just what you said but how you said it. Love is so simple yet the simple make it so hard. Love Is full of knowledge yet even the smart don't get it. Love doesn't cost a fortune yet fortunes are spent trying to gain it. Love does demand of you yet you are not willing to sacrifice for it. Those who only seek what love can give and do for them, do nothing for love and others and in such selfish pursuit, in turn rob themselves of love's best gift. Make this year the year you seek to sow love and not just reap it. Be love and not just think it. Do love and not just say it. Talk love and just don't fake it. Seek love and just don't chase it. Embrace it but don't enslave it, share it but don't dare boast in it. Enjoy it but don't abuse it. Free it and watch it come back. Invest in it and watch it pay back. Wash your life in it, light your darkness with it, eat your food with it conduct your business with it and above all else Serve God in it. For whatever love is and is not, it's all of, for and From Him. He is LOVE! " By Steven Gooden

We're never as strong, as we are until we have to be. Never Do as much, unless the need we see. Only give our best, when we fail at mediocrity. We Love rather than hate when we admit we're one humanity. We always give more, when compassion moves our heart with unbridled generosity. We Become more of our potential when we are made to see, that clearly our minds can believe in unfathomable possibilities, while seizing every opportunity, here in lies one's destiny. More than our scars, higher than our stars, for in our flaws are what defines our features, they're uniquely ours, as human creatures. We can run faster than on our slowest day. Reason better, and thinking it through all the way, regardless which direction our emotions may sway. We can find our voice when speechless, our strong words with meekness and our Courage in weakness. Always patience not quickness. Silence for peace than loudness, quietness of fear, not hopeless, for time and effort are equally unbiased. We are more than the stories we're told, we're the one's we write, each page unfold. We are the sum of our Lies and truth, fantasy, fiction, faith, and myths, no matter how uncouth. These are what shape us, our lives lived is the proof. We can be more right than wrong. More just than judge. More godlike than unlike. Reflecting Sunlight in our darkest night. Providing refuge. Never more alive until we die within and begin again. A Human Ark Divine in our human spark. That's who we are, Who and what we can be, we can become. by Steven Gooden

Wow!!! Just wow!!! Shannon, this is THE INTERVIEW!!! Terry, THANK YOU for sharing! This is your truth, and we can appreciate seeing your humility. The viewers and I saw you take your heart out of your body and sit it on the table…we could truly see your heart, and your heart posture is amazing! This interview is an inspiration, and it was a whole therapy session in and of itself. This was so therapeutic for me. You dropped so many gems in this interview, but the one that got me was, “Don’t shake your head ‘Yes’ when you mean ‘No’.” I have done that many times, not in the context of money or jobs, but to please everyone. I recently stopped doing that because I had to stand up for myself and make me happy. Now, everyone says, “You are not the same, you’ve changed.” I am like, “You are right. I am living for me and what makes me happy.” Thanks for sharing the story about mopping floors. Some people don’t and won’t get it, but that has always been my mindset. Go hard and work every position like it was more important like the CEO position. I have been promoted so many times because people see and respect my work ethics. This interview is one for the books. Over the next week, I will go back and watch it every day. After that, I will definitely come back to watch it as things come up in my life to pick me up again. You are a gem and a true inspiration! Thank you! This is a must watch over and over and over again!!!!

Over it over and over again and tell everyone how many times he referred to NFL players, he absolutely hated being interviewed by Shannon. Ok I’m done.

@TiffaniHolmes-wn4rg That was a truly powerful therapeutic session. The manner Shannon listens actively without being overbearing is a skill many seasoned psychoanalysts would only be too happy to master. This is why his guests are able to open up and share even their most deepest traumas. The whole conversation is so authentic. Shoo, it has so many takeaways to learn from. When he said opportunities have to be seized because living isn't guaranteed, that really resonated with me. Paralysis, fear to take a leap, proscastinating... these are some of my own traits holding me back. Yet I learned that every experience, no matter how seemingly insignificant, is a necessary dot in a big thread that ultimately stitches together to form a complete, unbreakable chain.

I started clapping in my room when he said take care of that kid, take care of yourself. Powerful I felt that through the screen. Thank you for speaking out for men boys and victims of any type of assault.
I wish I could change THIS fast! 🤣
