Those aren't Kobolds. Kobolds are german folklore. Similiar to english goblins. Dungeons & Dragons just stole the name and slapped it to lizardmen. So much to cultural appropriation...

A Kobold is a german evil gnome, not a miniature lizardmen. It's basicly just the german name for goblin.

Yeah, and Dragons are different in every culture that has myths about em, doesn't make any of the others wrong, especially since we're talking about fake creatures anyhow. We aren't talking about the German Gnome Kobold, we're talking about the Lizard Kobolds right now.

Recently saw a video explaining why the western kobold is dragon-like, while the eastern kobold is dog-like... So yeah, fantastic creature, doesn't exist, you can make it whatever you want !

@@pierre-mariecaulliez6285 No, it's not fantasy, it's folklore. You are talking about Dungeons and Dragons but the Kobold is german folklore. There are no "dragonlike" eastern or western Kobolds. A Kobold is a mischieveous house spirit. Dungeons and Dragons stole the name and put it on a random fantasy creature, but that is disrespectful of european culture. Would anyone steal the name Tengu or Kappa from japanese folklore and put it on some random fantasy creature? No, people would say, that's not a Kappa.

@@vermilion7777 And THE Golem is jewish. You are right to mark the difference between Fantasy and Folklore. This is a project in the Fantasy realm, your argument about the folklore of Kobolds, while educative, does not apply. I respect that you know the historical origin of the term "kobold", and that you prefer this interpretation of it, but in this context, we are referring to the DnD race (unaptly) named Kobolds.
