CLUTCH TECH: Ford Ranger PX & Transit Clutch Bleeding Procedure

Today we show you how to bleed the clutch on a Ford Ranger PX. This process can also be applied to various Ford Transit models as well as a variety of European vehicles.

Don't suppose you have any tips on a VM Transit, with the 180º bleed valve instead of the double clips? I've tried substituting the "pull the clip and hose" with opening the valve. Plenty of fluid gone through so far (done it several times now, 2x 500ml bottles to be precise) and still no joy. New clutch + CSC, after first attempt, replaced the master cyl. It pumps up, then eases to the floor. Cheers.

Hi, It should follow a similar process. Probably the best way to move forward is to clamp the line off and check whether the pedal goes solid. This will help confirm that the master cylinder is not holding air.

@@australianclutchservices7503 Thanks again for the advice. That isolated the issue, the master held up well. I eventually got 'some' pressure, but the instant I started the engine, the pedal dropped to absolute nothing again. I can now assume the new CSC (not from you guys) is at fault. Note to viewers. Buy quality clutch components from ACS, not cheapies via ebay 😖

THE BLEEDER NIPPLE IS NOT SHUTTING DOWN WHEN THE PEDAL IS PRESSED AND THE CLIPS ARE BACK IN POSITION. IS THERE A REPLACEABLE COMPONENT IN THE BLEEDER UNIT?

Any advice on a clutch pedal that loses the first 50% of stroke when hot? Seems to come back when cold? Still works though. Has a new master and slave, done by mechanic, about to try and bleed again. Great video.

i have the exact same situation here. Clutch is fine when cold, loses also 50% of stroke when hot. if I pump the pedal in the now large free play area, its ok for a while (couple mins). No crazy wear on the clutch plate either. @australianclutchservices7503 any ideas?

4 months on and still no better. Replaced the damper, had 3 mechanics bleed it, nothing. About to hit up the mechanic that replaced the master and slave cylinders and ask him to replace the clutch plate as it’s the last piece that’s isn’t new.

@@danhope254 still got the same issue. Haven’t yet replaced the bleeder pipe as I need to drop the gearbox again to do it. Planning on doing it soon. So far replaced master cylinder, slave cylinder and damper unit. My advice to anyone, if you’re dropping the gearbox, do everything in there.

My mechanic changed the master cylinder clutch, and we bleed the system just like what you did in the video, but we are still experiencing weak clutch pedal. Do I need to change the slave cylinder as well ?
