Her situation with the Olympic Team is the Caitlin Clark Catch-22: She is playing The Steph Curry Way, but the other players are in pre-Steph mode. It took Curry several years for the Warriors to build the right team for that style. The Celtics will be only the second team to win that way. The 2019 Raptors had a great 3-4, the 2020 Lakers had a great 3-4 and another 4-5, the 2021 Bucks had a great 4-5, and the 2023 Nuggets had a great 5. Clark's success will come as her team can build the right team for her style, the Curry Way.

If you have exciting players like Clark, that'll bring in more viewers than good looking women. For example, that lingerie women's football league has mostly attractive women but they aren't bringing in a ton of viewers. The other part is personalities. Considering WNBA viewership consists a greater % of men than women, men (I assume) get annoyed with a lot of the personalities on the W, especially when they compare themselves to NBA players, especially complaining about pay differences when they lose $10+ mil/year. That and people like Grinner thinking they could take on DeMarcus Cousins, for example, and the delusion thinking they are better, much less have a shot at winning 1v1.
