One of the most appreciated comments ever! I'm grateful that I'm not getting in the way of the learning, because that's why the channel exists. We're putting in terraced grow beds into our yard, so there will be a LOT more garden/veggie content coming once that is situated.

I also used to struggle with the pronunciation of "mycorrhizae" until I realised it is two words glued together 😅 "myco" meaning fungi; as in mycology, the science that studies fungi. And "rhizae" meaning roots, the easy way to remember is that most berries are propagated by rhizomes, which are literally root cuttings.

You are SO right...😊 I'm usually a stickler on things (in general) being pronounced and spelled correctly, so this is a great feedback.

This video was SUPER helpful for me! We bought a house that came with persimmons trees and the leaves have black spots on them ) the whole tree! I have no idea what to buy and what to do to cure it so that it can produce good healthy fruit. Thank you for explaining what I have been looking at at the stores! :)

I love hearing how this helped give you some guidance. It can feel overwhelming! Best of luck with your persimmon 😊

This is pretty helpful. But my tree that came with my house is like 30 ft tall. None of these videos ever show someone working on a tall tree. Hopefully I will find one that talks about that. I know the tree has got some fungus and I'm trying to find out how restore it. We've never gotten a usable crop out of it.

@tbluemel3 жыл бұрын
Another great video, Cameron! Best of all, you look very healthy! I use a Gilmour hose end sprayer and I love it! You just put the chemical in the container, set the knob to the right mix setting and start spraying. Very good coverage and you can tilt it to get the undersides of the leaves. Saves a lot of time. Do you ever use systemics?
@TheBusyGardener3 жыл бұрын
I think for someone who has a decent amount of spraying to do, a hose end sprayer is hard to beat for ease of use. With systemics: I'm reluctant to spray anything that will be taken in to the plant's system, especially when I plan to eat parts of the plant such as fruit and leaves. There are also a number of systemics which negatively impact beneficial insects and pollinators, which further sours me on the idea.

Very good video I would emphasize however that mixing sulfur with the copper fungicide would create an acid that would not be beneficial for fruit trees and at the beginning of the video should be noted instead of the end of the video as people won't finish the video oftentimes thank you

Really good information. I've been using the copper stray on my olive trees for a few years now; I also sprayed my two new peach trees early January (Northern Calif.) because they showed signs of peach tree curl after bringing them home early March of last year. My peach trees are budding (no flowers) so I will spray again; but when should I spray my lemon and lime trees for leaf minors -- some have fruit and some don't. You showed Captain Jacks Dead Bug on the screen. That's what i plan on using. Thanks!
@TheBusyGardener3 жыл бұрын
Hi Theresa! If using a Spinosad based organic insecticide like this: amzn.to/3rVPD1pi , Start spraying when a new flush of growth emerges and the first signs of leaf miner damage are found and repeat sprays every 7-14 days. Your flowers aren't on the new tender growth, so limit any spraying to these new leaves and stems (if affected).

It's so tough to be attacked from multiple pests! The best approach is prevention, so spraying when bug eggs are overwintering or at first sign of bugs. Wishing you luck out there!

Great Video Cameron. I didn’t spray this year because it seemed somewhat confusing but this will clarify things. I’m in San Diego and we got black spots on our apple leaves and fruit last year. It was drier this year so I’m hoping for the best. My nectaplum, pluot and Santa Rosa plum haven’t had bud break yet. Should be good to still spray right?
@TheBusyGardener3 жыл бұрын
If they haven't broken bud yet, spray away! As a general rule, I won't spray more than the affected and adjoining trees, and will only spray in response to a known infestation/issue. You can be proactive instead, especially if you're seeing the same issues crop up annually, but I try to limit spraying when I can.

Hi, my citrus trees have that miner/ deformed leaves. When we kill it ( we have done it ince before) is there a way to get rid of the ugly leaves?
@TheBusyGardener3 жыл бұрын
Hi Anna! The affected leaves, though ugly, are producing food for the tree. If you've treated the tree for leaf miner: unless you want to remove them for looks, it's ok to leave them on the tree.

I read in some articles that they advise to mix with doormat oil and copper Together and spray.... What do you think?? What is your advice??? Thank you very much...Oksana...

Are you talking about mixing the whitewash with the oil and copper? I suppose it could work! As long as it doesn't keep the whitewash from adhering to the plants
