E2D, Eliminate the Digital Divide, is giving laptops to the more than 700 CMS graduates who will attend a four-year HBCU in the fall. E2D was born at CMS in 2013, when then middle school student Franny Millen asked her family to do something to help students who didn’t have computers. Since then, the organization has provided more than 45,000 laptops to students and families in need of digital access. They’ve also established a workforce development program for students from Title 1 schools. Through it, students are trained and paid double minimum wage to refurbish the computers. This is a fantastic model of community support. Kudos to all you’re doing to support our students and send our HBCU bound graduates off with a critical tool for their success! #ExcellenceCMS
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) is committed to providing exceptional education and support to over 140,000 students across 180+ schools in the greater Charlotte area.
