The Sundarbans is home to a sprawling, biodiverse wetland. Tropical cyclones frequently hit the area.
In the aftermath of these disasters, families resort to selling or marrying their daughters to relieve themselves from financial pressure. While some are lucky and manage to escape or are rescued, they return home only to confront the social stigma attached to their traumatic experience.
Education is key not only for children but their parents.

Why doesn't the government shift these communities outside this ecologically sensitive area maybe to another state while leasing land and ensuring access to some form of sustained livelihood ? The govt should focus on restoring the mangroves while moving people out. There were cyclones even before climate change, there will be many more in the future, the government needs to stop being so apathetic to these communities.

That's all well and good, because every social group, but also the individual, makes his or her contribution to the formation of a society. The story ends with the talkative Indian schoolgirls. Will they be able to change society? For updates we'll be in touch in 200 years. Thank you.

How can we help? Can we get them to maybe relocate to a safer and more sutaible safe living area. Not a refugee camp but a region that they can go to and live in peace. I dont know the answer but i really prqy for these women and children.

The first smallest step would be to spread this information as far and wide as possible. There are many documentaries on child marriage and the state of women in the state of Rajasthan as well. To add some extra context, the 57 year old man she was married to in this documentary was mentioned to be from Haryana. The reason men from Haryana are seeking brides outside their caste and from so far away is that there is a huge 'shortage' of women because of female infanticide and foeticide in Haryana. One thing the Indian government still cares a little bit about is its image outside of India. So if there are a lot of people talking about child marriage and trafficking in India and tag our Prime minister in it and link all this to his name, there is a chance they will feel some urgency about doing something about this....something akin to the uyg hurs in China. And with the rising economic inequality in India, things are going to get much worse

I am baffled at how grown adult men are okay with marrying women 40 years or maybe 50 to their senior! There is something wrong here and there needs to be a deeper discussion on why men think it's okay. Let's remove religion and ask the real question!

Yes, but India is an extremely patriarchal society. Talking and convincing these men won't work. Any adult male marrying a child should be put into jail. In India there is a law called 'Protection of Children again Sexual Offences' and according to that this would be considered ra*e, but somehow within marriage everyone tolerates it

More cyclone s + House destroyed by the water 3 times in 10 years. That s why in the docu And they try to cope by planting mangrove trees. I m from Holland our country is also in a delta. We use lots of technology to keep the water away. But also in Holland we need new way of thinking about the risks now. Allthough our conditions change less then in the tropical regions of the world

I hate that word climate change, weather manipulation is the correct. Depopulate is their plan so losing lives after man made floods is a bonus for them. So they are saying here that due to climate change these children are sold of by their parents/families to survive? In my opinion this is criminal & these older men who have child brides are pedophiles abusing these children. Girls/women/children should have more rights. Stop using the climate change narrative & try the truth, corrupt governments ran by peados openly abusing their girls/women by not giving them the human rights they rightly deserve. The dirty men who take these children as brides should be jailed for life as they are a danger to them. These young women need to teach their sons to respect women from an early age & break the cycle. Bless all these women
