Meet the trauma specialists from Singapore's Tan Tock Seng Hospital - chief surgeon Dr Teo Li Tserng and his team of doctors - who gave CNA Insider unprecedented access to their operating theatres, where life and death decisions must be made within seconds.
And learn what they do to rehabilitate trauma patients - such as victims of accidents and violent crime - both physically and psychologically.
What is the difference between a trauma and an emergency room (ER) doctor? What does it take to be a trauma surgeon - of whom there are just 10 in Singapore?

That's why doctors have one of the highest incomes. They literally go through so much stress just to save lifes. I couldn't never live through life knowing my patient never made it. Kudos to all doctors out there.

hi , I would just like to express my immense gratitude to all the doctors, worldwide . especially singapore because we have one of the keastvpopulations in the world, yet everyday there are still lives to be said. I'm only 12 year old kid , but I still have all due respect for people who do this willingly to help the community and beyond ! as he said , it shouldn't be defined as a sacrifice, but the will to do it

Maurizio Arrivabene I- u sound like a 21 year old who thinks they know a lot but even though doctors study their asses off in Med school, nurses still have more medical experience than doctors. Nurses also spend much more time with patients, so what ever bullshit the patients, the patients’ relatives or doctors give them, they have to handle it. But you can’t just compare like that. Whatever the doctors lack in, the Nurses cover up for it. It’s a medical team. U don’t just work alone as a nurse or a doctor.
@ShaniaShergill
@ShaniaShergill 4 жыл бұрын
@@maurizioarrivabene8182 nurses are the ones who take care of the patients after the doctor has dont their assesments and such. We work as a team. The doctors give the prescription, we make sure they receive the care they need in order to get better. Yes doctors do have more on the line job wise but both careers are just as challenging and important in their own ways. But in the end, working together to provide the best possible treatment for the patient is our top priority.

Amazing to watch a video like this! I think we are all so used to the job of doctors based on American/korean dramas which are highly exaggerated. Or all we think are doctors earning high pay cheques by just sitting at their desk prescribing medications. We forget about those that work in government hospitals and those that need to work 48 hours continuously. Kudos to that!
@finnskywalker2273
@finnskywalker2273 2 жыл бұрын
videos like this is definitely the norm. long hours, high stress, sometimes very meager pay for the trainees/junior doctors who are covering the hospital 24/7. but also, the satisfaction of knowing you performed the way you were trained that allows someone to get better, and putting a smile on their face or hearing a simple thank you - that’s priceless, that’s what really makes the tough days all worthwhile.

Doctors in singapore are by far one of the bests i ever came across. I know many from singapore national hospital and a few from other hospitals . Have been to courses there, n it was one best experience to learn from them. I even recognise one hepatobilliary surgeon in his team when they were on table i forgot his name though he was our course instructor in 2018 for hepatic tumor removal guidelines . I had worked for 3 months in my foundation year in surgery and its really stressful to work in trauma centre . I Salute the surgeons and doctors in general for giving the prime time of life to patients betterment more power to us 👍
