Kudos to Munah for pushing the NEA guy a few times in the interview and not letting him get away easily. After this, it is clear that NEA is just not doing enough to roll up their sleeves and help with the rat issue. Just simply providing guidelines and direction and playing a coordinator role is not the solution as clearly the rat numbers never went down.

PAP town councils are not providing the level of services despite being paid maintenance fees by residents. There must be corruption involved.

This video is so frustrating to watch, NEA's responsibility basically equate to zero. As a government agency they are basically paid to just point fingers.

NEA is really tone deaf on this issue, regulator best at pointing fingers. When the rodent is found in hawker's stall, why is that the responsibility of our poor hawkers?!

Moreover, to these hawkers, they might not even be aware of the legal and ethical implications of trying to trap rats in a humane way according to the Animals and Bird Act. The gahmen really needs to step up their game to summon their own agencies for coming out with tons of crap instead of civilians

Amazing. Overseas, we practice Integrated Pest Management where the premises owners and food operators are responsible to keep the place free from food waste for the pest and pest-proof our own areas. However in Singapore, you are expecting someone else to wipe your bum after pooping? What a bunch of "fortunate" Singaporeans.

This gentleman from NEA exemplify the behaviour of typical armchair civil servant. Rodents infestations are so wide spread now, I wonder how such a underperforming Ministry can step up to solve the problem. The streets are also littered with cigarette butts, beer cans, plastic bottles and food trash. No enforcement in that area as well.

NEA duty is to push the responsibility around. The rats move NEA.

NEA is the real villain here. They show a tremendous lack of sensitivity on this issue, often pointing fingers & dodging answers instead of handling the root problem. When a rodent was found in a hawker's stall, why should our struggling hawkers be held responsible and pay through their pockets? Ridiculous.

NEA should step up their game, so much red tapes and pushy behaviour. If NEA actually collaborates with companies using to implement the alcohol trap and the contraceptives concurrently, we may actually see tangible results. Gov agencies really need to work together with companies as in placing traps and monitoring together

Decoding civil servant lingo 1) Stakeholders (verb): The act of pushing responsibility. Example: We engage our stakeholders and educate them on good practices. 2) Monitor (noun): To not do anything. Example: We will continue to monitor the situation.

NEA is more concerned about catching people who don’t return their trays. It’s possible that hawkers are victims when rats from the environment (tunnels in ground etc) enter their stalls.

NEA mentioning "Stakeholders" is like me mentioning Starbucks is to blame for my caffeine addiction. The red tape talked about in this episode sounds alot like what LHL talked about in a speech regarding the cleaning of a walkway, because one is looked after by NParks the other looked after by LTA cause near road etc.

adding a comment just to tell NEA im not happy with how they are addressing and taiching this issue. Everyone watching this video should do the same in case they think those 'complaining' are a vocal minority. I believe the Ministries do check on negative comments on various social media platforms. On another note, please do an episode on the bird issue in hawker centers!!! Extremely unsanitary, the state of affairs these days.

i wonder what is the talking point for covering this topic when this battle is totally one-sided victory. it is just a matter of time for human to win. if there is nothing to cover then i think covering how humans exterminate bee hives are more interesting than rats since bees can retaliate with their stings while rats will just run and hide right?
