"On Monday, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and two House Democrats unveiled a proposal to tax the mega-wealthy - called the Ultra-Millionaire Tax Act. On Tuesday, she brought that proposal right into the lion’s den - CNBC.
Appearing on the financial network’s Squawk Box, Warren defended her plan against criticism from CNBC host Joe Kernen. A noted fan of former President Donald Trump’s, Kernen had few kind things to say about the senator’s proposal, and took a tongue-in-cheek, kidding-but-not-really-kidding approach to criticizing it. The CNBC host questioned why Warren was only calling for a 2 percent tax on those with $50 million or more, and 3 percent on those whose fortunes exceed $1 billion."*

We live in a country where the richest man in America could write a million dollar check for every man, woman and child in the country and not only would it cost him less than 1% of his net worth BUT, they'd make it back within a month! Hell, they could write it off as a charitable donation and actually make out quite nicely at tax season!

There are three hundred twenty-five million people in this country. That would be $325,000,000,000,000 (325 trillion). trill, bill, mill, thou, hund

Pure fantasy. Billonaires would just live elsewhere and or put their money into other avenues as to avoid paying this. You are either an idealist or very naive or both.

Most middle class Americans pay income taxes, a pretty hefty amount as a percentage of income, so I am not crying for rich people that are asked to pay more than they are paying now and who are not only rich enough to be comfortable forever but use every loophole to avoid paying taxes. Get rid of the loopholes too. It's greed. It's not about being fair. It's not about being honest. It's pure and simple greed and a total lack of concern for the greater good. Many of them are very happy to bribe officials with thousands and sometimes millions of dollars in PAC money but paying thier fair share just like the rest of us. And lastly, does anyone honestly believe that they would stop all their businesses because this is unfair? Ha... they would keep raking more money than they will ever have any ability to spend in several lifetimes. Their children you ask, they will also have enough and hey maybe let them earn their income. This world is both amazing and very cruel, I am not losing any sleep for the privileged super wealthy who are living a life that I can't even imagine from my middle class viewpoint.

Why are the people that say they believe in God are the most greedy? Do they think they are going to take their money with them when they die? They prove they don't believe the Bible. They need to read the story of Lazarus, Abraham and the rich man. But they only use God and the Bible to justify their lies.

If we restructured the entire IRS, so that it was a flat tax, we wouldn't have all these loopholes. Millionaires crying is music to everyone's ears.

I think you need 1 more zero. 50,000,000*.02=1,000,000. So they would have 49 million left. And really, isn't 49 million and 50 million the same thing?

@@charlidog2 I feel embarrassed. Thank you for the correction. And you're right, what's the difference? They spend that kind of money on useless things such as yachts, mansions with 8 bathrooms, million dollar cars, etc. That money could better be utilized by putting it towards helping the people that actually made them millionaires. 👍
