They basically said "let's make a movie" then signed up for Shark Tank. They had nothing else.

I'm a producer and this pitch would be thrown out of any meeting. #1 Your proof of concept can't be all text on a screen. You need to show us you have an actual story. We need a good idea of what the story is, even if it's with actors you don't intend on the final product. You can shoot that for less than 10K for sure. #2 You have to have a script. You can sell an idea without it, but don't expect someone to spend more then say 20K on it unless you get super lucky. #3 You need people attached that prove this zero-proof concept could be bankable. You need a famous actor, or director, or a producer that says they'll do it through their well known company IF you get said capital. Maybe a famous cinematographer, but that's secondary to the above. They literally are doing everything wrong with this which shows the final issue: you don't know your own industry. That's death. Not to mention they overly exaggerated their qualifications: James was a stunt person for three movies. They were big, but chances are he was part of a large stunt team. A real stunt person is at least getting work yearly. Brian quotes Mr. Brooks -> He was Production head, not even producer. That's like me representing myself as a producer then saying I worked on a movie that grossed X amount of money, and turns out I was the editor for it. He then quotes the movie "Waiting." He was a production head on...not Waiting. The horrific 4.9/10 on imdb sequel, Still Waiting. Total misrepresentation.

This sounds more like a dream than reality, most people get the opportunity to even pitch because of their agent, or someone they networked with, then from there they’re just pitching their script, And from what I’ve seen and read depending on the story a proof of concept could cost nothing but your Iphone since you can film and do all the editing there,

Did these guys just say that motorcycling is the second most watched sport in the world? That just CANNOT be true, right? Football (soccer for you americans) is by far number one, cricket should - by far be number two. After that, there should be a couple of more that are before motorcycling.

@@jedimasterspidermad5173 Right, i think it is up there somewhere in the top 10 at least, but not a chance its second. Most of us has never watched a single game of cricket, but it is extremely popular in countries like India, Pakistan and England. Just for reference, the cricket world cup in 2022 had over 6.5 billion viewers over the course of the tournament. That blows every single sport (outside of football) out of the water.

@picklepicklegobblegobble6257 Yes, it is when you look worldwide. However - you are correct when it comes to Europe. Nobody from Italy, Spain, Romania, Russia or Sweden watches cricket. The only country in Europe where cricket is huge is in England. It’s immense popularity is showed mostly by former british colonies. Cricket is very big in India and Pakistan, both former british colonies. It is big in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa (also former colonies), and very big in other asian countries as Sri Lanka and Bangladesh - hence the very big tv-audiences that simply cannot be compared to any other sport except football. If anyone wondered why american sports will never catch up to cricket in popularity, it’s this: India has 1.4 billion inhabitants. Pakistan has 230 million, Bangladesh has 170 million, England 55 million. They pretty much all watch cricket.

Exactly. I am writing a novel based on a motocross racer and a snowboarder, and just to shoot a *5 minute trailer* for it was going to cost me well over $1.5 million...in 2005! (around 5 mil in today's economy.) A rough estimate I worked up for a feature film based on my story? at today's rates, with unknown actors, over $75 million. Name brand actors? Close to triple that. Yikes. I'll just publish the book when it is finished and hope to break even.

These guys are about 20 years too late. And even at the height of popularity, the bike movies we had then weren't that good despite having good actors like... Ryan Gosling, Ice Cube, Lawrence Fishburne and Steve Howey.

Funny you mentioned Steve Howey..I literally ran into him at the Anaheim Supercross when they were filming..I was walking in the pits when a rider I knew called my name, I turned to look at him and collided with Steve. I apologized, he said no problem and I kept walking. I looked at the name on his jersey and though WTH is that? A moment later some of the crew walked by and I realized what was going on. After seeing the movie (which was ok, not great, a half decent story but the editing during the race sequences was horrible) Steve was convincing as a racer. Quite the contrast from Van, lol.
