Hi Jeff. Thanks for the great JointCAM video. I was able to duplicate the issue you had, which is definitely a bug in JointCAM. I'll start tracking it down this evening, and get an updated version out as soon as I can. Gerry

Great video. I've been banging my head against the wall trying to figure out how to create toolpaths in aspire to do just this. Looks like its well worth the money.

Jeff you may be past this problem but I have made it possible on my machine to go to the fixture opening perfectly. This will put you at zero on your opening and can be used to make a fixture for flat cuts as well. I referenced my machine and set x and y 0 at the end of the reference. I used the manual input to move the router to my desired hole location and cut out the hole for the boards to be inserted. I wrote down the hole coordinates and it was done. The next time I started my machine I zeroed out the x and y and used the manual input to advance the router to my fixture location. After the advance I referenced my machine to that location so that the machining would be precise every time. I am fairly new and I hope this helps. The manual input I used was G00 Y4 X24 my machine is set up as the x being the length and y the width. Great videos and thank you for your content

That software looks like it is well worth the cost. Looking forward to giving it a go myself.

Jeff...enjoy your video's. I bought jointcam long ago but have never used it. I am bookmarking this video and am going to have to make up a vertical jig and try this out. I think your video was more explanitory then jointcams although i haven't reviewed theirs for over a year or more. Good job!

Jeff, what a great video! very thorough and it will help me for sure. did you get the new version downloaded and try the code again? I was thinking that maybe where your zero was off was where you set it to cut your pin board. how did you find the x/y corner? If anything, the pin board should be cut too deep because I think that would be easier to trim than having to plane the entire tail board. Still have not tried it but will soon, just an observation! Great work! Dylan

Dylan, turns out, my zero was dead on, however, material stock was NOT 3/4 of an inch. Was about 1/32 over resulting in a bit thicker tail board.. That's how exact this program is. It did everything perfectly. That "extra" was a result of my planer being off a bit. To your point though, once you get a few "test" pieces cut, as long as material thickness, zero point and XY zero are consistent, these batch out in less than a minute. Thanks for the inspiration and feedback.

Bob Heltibridle Thanks, and YES SIR, it does do box joints. I put a link to their website in description. g-forcecnc.com 135 dollars as I recall for a license, well worth it. Thanks for watching.

If you have a vertical jig on your CNC the box joint program works GREAT !!! I'll see what I can do about a video. VERY easy to setup and use and well worth the money. Thanks for watching.

My Shapeoko will move past the front frame rail far enough to cut box joints. I am working on a jig to hold the wood in place. Thanks hope you can do a video on showing how to use the soft ware to cut out box joints. So let me know when you have it. Thanks Jeff

have this only imperial dimensions, normal humans in earth 98% use today metric dimensions, today only 3-4 country use any old cavemen pre-history imperial dimensions. all use normal metric dimensions today.

Aspire is way to over priced! V carve pro is to! Just use the free Fusion 360 that does much more. I paid $600 for V Carve pro and I don't even use it because Fusion just blows it out of the water! Do some research before you buy this overpriced Vectric software. $2000 is insane for Aspire when I can do better with Fusion 360. I will never buy this software again.

Fusion 360 has great features, but the learning curve is steep, If you do mostly 3D stuff it's great. V Carve Pro and Aspire are easy, very easy, for most of what us simple minded CNC'ers do in 2 and 2.5D. Yes, it's pricey, but I can get things to the machine much faster. With their new unwrap utility many 3d things become easy too. I mean no offence to Autodesk, I just can't seem to get comfortable in that enviroment and I will continue to work on learning it.
