The whole selling point of the device is being able to interact with your apps. Why on earth did they only try one command that could be easily achieved by voice assistants already, and two which doesn't involve any apps.

Exactly, I'm so tired of the AI term being used for things that are not AI and are common place at this point. This review didn't do anything to help show the value the device has. What are common use cases, other than doing what my phone can already do?
@scottfree9784
@scottfree9784 5 ай бұрын
My thoughts exactly. I preordered one to try and see all of it's computer based applications. For example: can it learn how to use Google and ChatGPT interfaces to teach itself anything? Or can it be used to create hundreds of bot accounts on a social media platform (including filling out the captcha). Or can it learn the interface of a video game from watching the tutorial and then play the game to completion? Or can it be used to not only write code like ChatGPT, but use a programming editor and debug it's code that it writes? It really irritates me that the only things they show off with the device are things that a voice assistant already can do, and not showing us the actually useful things.

It requires you to access information with intent, as opposed to doom scrolling and becoming easily addicted to visuals in applications. I cannot see this thing taking off personally. Not when people already have phones in their pockets. This is not meant to replace your phone, it is an assistant. I think that once the novelty of a new device wears off these things will do nothing but collect dust. One big factor is that all of the hard work is being done on the servers in the backend anyways. So as you might expect Google, Apple and Amazon are all probably well aware of what this thing is and is potentially capable of... and get this, they will update their Siri, Alexa and Homes to do the same thing. It's not even far fetched, i bet within 6 months this thing will be overshadowed by the bigger companies. I would probably bet they would have something in testing prior to the actual release date of this thing (march-ish timeframe from what i heard)

I appreciate your effort in sharing your thoughts on the R1. In the future, it might be helpful to conduct more thorough research and testing before creating a video. This could provide a more comprehensive understanding of the product's capabilities. I understand the excitement of sharing content quickly, but taking the time to explore the R1's features could offer a more insightful perspective for viewers. This video felt like a waste of time to me. Constructive feedback can help improve the quality of the content. I believe the R1 has potential, and I'm looking forward to seeing more comprehensive reviews in the future. However, this video seemed like you tried to make a video without spending more than a few minutes on it - this is a waste of time for me personally. I would show better use case scenarios rather than asking silly questions to the device - this video makes the R1 seem like a useless kids toy, but I know it's much more than that. It would have also been way more interesting if you also did an unboxing of the product in addition to this.

The main problem with any voice assistants is that on the street they are a tool for extroverts. Still, here you need the ability to use the keyboard at least as an additional accessory and the ability to connect headphones. They can charge introverts for this if they want, but it's necessary if they really want their product to reach a wide audience.

CNET doing this thing a disservice by only talking about voice assistance. This is actually a really cool device that is way more than just an AI assistant, but for some recent CNET failed to show that. It can connect to your smartphone at home and perform actions with your apps, as well as allow you to teach it new actions by just showing it a screen recording. Looks like an improved version of Apple's Siri with significant upgrades of NLP (natural language processing). Looks good for budget phone or for disabled people but will not replace a modern 2024 smartphone for the average consumer.

This thing does stuff for you. Like write me a resume based on my skills. Then it emails you the resume. She just asked it things. You can integrate your apps and sort of program it with a bit of ease. That's the point of difference to a phone. It's like Chat GPT in a device but no subscription.

Im struggling for a while now , considering buying an old "dumb" phone to replace my 'smart'phone. Tbh, its more distracting than useful. So why not , buying this R1 and test it out. Looks like future this concept of devices. Will give it a shot when its shipped to germany :D

Apple and Google will never make such a device, as it will ruin their app business model where they can earn commision money from developers making apps in their appstores. That's why Rabbit will be such a breath of fresh air.

@mikeevans6344

@@simonthewatchguy6073 actually you dont need the apps on your phone, you just need to register to the service, and then logout and uninstall the apps even. you can even register on your laptop, dont even need to install the apps, its a whole new way of accessing the service, which is a great alternative.

The only main difference is you’ll be speaking instead of typing, meaning everyone in your vicinity will know what you want AND the machine will decide what you want, meaning, you have way too little control, for instance you want to check the pricing options of many things, moreover chat GPT right now has only 70% accuracy, so let’s say you want to go to Rome, it may take you to the wrong Rome in the world, maybe even a street. Even if one word is wrong by the AI, it can truly rip whatever you are doing apart. I’d like it as a collector item though.
