@@davebarton6824There’s an off-set! Caitlyn Clark is already making big money (even as a college player) with endorsements. And she’s not the only one. Even if there’s no tv audience or arena audience now, wnba will be sold through individual player endorsements for their sponsors. Everybody wins. NIL is changing the landscape for athletes.

2 years ago, I saw Clark play. Then I saw Angel, Aaliyah Boston, then Paige. I told a male friend about Clark and Angel possibly being the next Magic /Bird to take the WNBA to the next level. Dude laughed at me. During the women's final 4 this dude ordered a Clark 22 jersey. If you're a sports fan you love great competition. These young women have proven they have the skills to attract basketball fans of every demographic. Salute ladies.

I would LOVE to see a version of the Bird/Magic dynamic with Angel and Caitlin. The WNBA needs this kind of “friendly rivalry”. They do respect each other in real life so it would seem like a no-brainer to me.

@@damita4336 Yes, because the Clark/Reese thing was the very first drama ever in women's basketball. Great analysis. 😂 There's been beefs in women's ncaa and WNBA every year. Clark is the reason they tuned in this time around. Iowa sold out (almost) every game this season, and Angel Reese and that "drama" was only involved in one of those games. You are just using passive aggression to throw shade on Clark. Is there a reason you are upset at seeing a surge in popularity of women's basketball?

Caitlin Clark set Every college basketball record, men or women. Caitlin Clark scores routinely from distances that others cannot. Caitlin Clark ,and her teammates, were playing for a NATIONAL championship, against long time powerhouse programs like South Carolina, LSU, U Conn. All the others are playing for powerhouse programs, surrounded by highly recruited players.
@AnniceMichelleАй бұрын
Are you kidding me? Did you not watch the tournament? When Caitlin was faced with great 6 wasn't always hitting anything. Mika Suhl of UConn shut her down for 2 quarters. She scored absolutely no points. Until Suhl got into foul trouble. The game against WVU was the lowest scoring game of Iowa's entire season. She looked good because she played in a trash conference.

That's a fact. Basketball is the one sport that at a micro level, gives the vibe that black people have a superiority complex at it, and will not easily accept a white person being a superior baller, even if the evidence is glaring, whether it's Jokic, Doncic, CC or in the past, Bird who could only ever be termed the "best white player". More on Cheryl Miller. "Still the most highly recruited male or female player ever, Miller chose the University of Southern California. There she became a four-time All-American and led the Trojans to a 112-20 record and to the NCAA title in 1983 and 1984. The back-to-back titles were an NCAA first, and she was tournament MVP both years. She won the Naismith Trophy and the Broderick Award as the nation’s best woman basketball player three times, shared the 1984 Honda Broderick Cup as the outstanding college athlete in any sport and was the Wade Trophy winner in 1985. With 3,018 points-at a time when there was no three-point line-and 1,534 rebounds scored over 128 games, she ranks 14th among the NCAA’s all-time leading scorers and still holds USC records for points, rebounds, field goals, free throws, steals and games played. In 1986, she became the first player whose jersey was retired by the university. In the international arena, Miller led the U.S. women’s basketball team to a gold medal in the 1983 Pan American Games and to another gold in the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. In 1986, she added a gold medal at the Goodwill Games in Moscow as the U.S. team broke the Soviet Union’s 152-game winning streak." californiamuseum.org/inductee/cheryl-miller/#:~:text=She%20won%20the%20Naismith%20Trophy,Wade%20Trophy%20winner%20in%201985.

I love how we can put her into context from the story from her HOF brother. Reggie bragged about scoring 40 (or 50?) and his dad just grinned and told him Cheryl had scored 105 that same day. I wish the WNBA had existed 10 years earlier so she could have been the dominant force and face of the league. I'll ignore the "her competition was terrible" comments because she destroyed the best competition she could possibly face.

Saw a clip of Clark her freshman year and was amazed. I had never seen a player with the skill and range. Watched the games on the internet until media coverage improved. The range is captivating and the Iowa system of play is exciting to watch. The women's game is changing just like the men's game changed with a small guard from Davidson and KD. I was so amazed by Clark's play. I became a women's basketball fan watching USC, LSU, and South Carolina every week. USC didn't get as much love though on the East Coast. I've tried watching WNBA games and it just didn't do it for me. I hoping that I can continue to support the growth of the league and also be entertained. Watching the draft for the first time. Buying tickets to the Dream vs Fever game. Hoping that the WBNA capitalizes on this attention to improve viewership that will solve the sponsor and pay issues. Please embrace your young stars because it definitely terrible hearing all the hate coming from the WNBA players against the new class. Clark is what they needed Clark is what they want.

There is a sweet spot in refing. It's called follow the rule book. If you allow excessive physical contact, offense players have to create more space to get a shot off. Or, you have the NBA, where offensive players are allowed to charge all the time. The WNBA is not fun too watch. Too much contact, not enough artistry, because they get hammered when they do anything artistic. Clark is fun to watch, because she is an incredible shooter, and passer. That is diminished when excessive contact is allowed. There are a lot of excellent players who would be better served by calling the game close to the actual rules, not WNBA, or NBA...
