Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Russian President Vladimir Putin at his residence in Novo-Ogaryovo outside Moscow, while less than 600 miles away Russian missiles rained down on Ukrainian cities in a morning rush hour assault that killed at least 39 people. #CNN #news

No thing real genius about it. . . pretty common sense actually. Thing is, if India doesnt get their stuff together and stop boot licking dictators, they will find themselves on the same side as China in this thing. A little russian oil profits is nothing compared to the manufacturing and other opportunities the west brings them and is poised to increase 10 fold as such things are moved out of China. The west is not eager to make the same mistakes twice though. So, if India cannot get it together, russian oil will be the only thing it has. With no one to sell it to.

As an Indian, I want to assure the West that there is no need to worry about India aligning with Russia and strengthening their position. India is an emerging and rapidly progressing country. Instead of joining the Western bloc or the Russia-China bloc, India has the stature to form its own bloc. Just as the USA goes to any extent to fulfill its national interests, India will also act to fulfill its own national interests. And don't worry, we Indians do not support war; we support peace. Being a democracy, India will support what its citizens stand for.

For all the Westerners confused about 1971 (and why Indians don't trust American). There were two Pakistan's back then. West Pakistan and East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). West Pakistan started atrocities against the people of East Pakistan and to ensure India doesn't intervene attacked India using tanks. Pakistan was militarily superior to India back then. Anyways, through some really smart & brave generals (e.g. India flooded the sugarcane fields along the border with water overnight and majority of Pakistani tank brigade got stuck in the mud) India was winning the battle. Pakistan and US were friends back then. US ignored all the atrocities of West Pakistan and sent the 7th fleet in the bay of bengal (i.e. India) to threaten India to back off. India did not have many friends back then - it was the Russian who came to help India back then. They asked US to back off or they would get involve in the war. Ever since that day, US stopped supplying weapons to India and armed Pakistan to the teeth till Mr Laden came visiting. Anyways, long story short, Indians and Elephants have long memories. Indians are not going to let 1971 slide that easily - at least not until the current generation is around.
