This is so terribly sad. When I heard that they'd broken up, this was the interview I right away remembered. It seems - seems - that Colin Firth was the type of person to love very deeply - he went and lived in the Canadian wilderness fora few years out of love for someone. And the fact that he really credited his wife - in his Oscars acceptance speech - with "everything good that had happened to him since they met". How often do you find a man who loves so much - especially in showbiz? He learned fluent Italian, took up Italian citizenship, for instance. However, long absences for filming - and a woman at home with two energetic boy children - perhaps that is a factor. Or maybe the high life distorted her perceptions. She also settled down a lot earlier than he did. We don't know the whole story. But it does look as if,having arranged his life around her, he is left high and dry. Very, very sad indeed. Let's hope things are calming down by now.

Reminds me of when another great actor, Paul Newman, was asked something similar about his marriage to Joanne Woodward and he answered, "Why have hamburger when you have steak at home." Paul and Joanne were married 50 years in January 2008 and he died in September 2008. It can be done. It's called priorities.

And now he’s divorced

For a man who speaks so eloquently and beautifully, there were so many pauses and "uhms" when he talked about this. Apparently, he had not thought that through that topic before. Lovely guy, it's rare to find charming men who don't use their charm to sleep around and Colin is apparently a goodwill credit to his profession. I hope he finds meaningful love that will last forever after the divorce.

Looked all my life for this kind of love, never found it. of course things are simplified when there are no money issues...but still glad for these guys.

I think that woman was obviously just smug about Colin's reputation as a famous actor! To a large extent, she just wants to take advantage of his personal value. I dare say she doesn't love Colin at all. This can be seen from the fact that this woman often makes some stupid remarks on the Internet

Why give an interview to this scarecrow about such an intimate subject ? Sorry that it ended in divorce ! No reason to hate each other. You were happy together for a long time. We change throughout life and not always in the same way.

I didn't realise what true happiness was until I was married. Unfortunately by then it was too late.

I‘m a child of divorced parents and for me there is no such thing as „happy marriage“. It’s a dream imagination young people have, thinking marriage is like an eternal bond of love. Nonsense.... 3 out of 5 marriages end in a divorce. I love Collin Firth, but a „secret to a happy marriage“ doesn’t exist.

Why did he accept this interview? And now he is divorced..

He only saw his version of beauty. He did not see the Ugliness of Her Betrayal & Infidelity. She's considerable Younger than him. Her ex lover Woke him up to her fooling him & because it going puplic. It's more like he was Physically Obsessed, Not love. Their Marriage, finally, after her infidelity & his blindness of beauty only, Ended in Divorce.
