This lovely piece of history lie hidden in the Cooley Mountains, It was a large Village before the great famine. sadly now it lies in ruins, The primitave Architecture of the houses, the cut stone lintels, rest like a forgotten ghost lost
in time, It lies beside a ever running stream, where the people of the village got
the water, if it is not preserved it will be gone for ever, a piece of history for the generations to come,Take Note: An Taisce and National Monuments.

"Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence." Thanks for sharing such beautiful places like this and soothing music too.

It saddens me to see places like this and you are right, it should be preserved for posterity. It is an important part of the Irish heritage. Beautiful tunes! What are they called?

The first one can be known as “The wearing of the green”. The second “Ned of the hill”.

Hiya, it's a beautiful spot, explored it last weekend after coming over Slieve Foye and Barnavave. Such places are common-ish out west, but relatively rare on the east coast I think.Anyway, I have a question: Is the name of the village Cnoc Na Mona or Cnoc Na Móna ? (fodder/diacritical mark on the "o" in case KZfaq messes it up). Was wondering if you can tell me which it is, as there is clearly peat on Slieve Barnavava and a mint building in Carlingford, so I suppose it could be either. But I'm not aware of any source of silver or gold locally. So "Hill of the peat" or "Hill of the money" And thanks for the videoDavid/Dáithí

...ah did I get the wrong village... ? Sorry... so there's another further up Carlingford Lough -  up by Omeath...?  I'll go take a look. I was exploring the one to the SE of the naze of Slieve Barnavave.

I'm looking for this place too. I was at Barnavave, but to get to the place in the video I think you have to follow the Tain Way, but I might be wrong.

A gorgeous part of Ireland with a great Irish tradition. But where exactly is Cnock/Cnoc na Móna? It's not appearing in Louth/Armagh in the superb Irish Placenames Commission website, www.logainm.ie.

It is near the village of Omeath about 1 mile south of the Long Womans Grave on the Cooley Mountain
