Coach K was offered the equivalent of 64 million dollars over 5 years and part ownership of the Lakers and he still turned them down to stay as coach of Duke. If loyalty was a person.

A lot of times we judge others by the state of OUR own mind, which is not necessarily the mindset of the one being judged. Coach K makes that mistake here. Kobe wasn't transforming himself, he has ALWAYS been Batman, the other players already had respect for him, he was a 3-time Champion at the time and had gone to the Finals 5 times...the other players and Coach K just got a peek into the Batcave during those Olympics. Be grateful!

"Transforming" was a nice way to describe his personal situation.

@@quaoar213 What was his personal situation in 2008? He'd just come off of a Finals appearance and was 4 years removed from the rape allegation. The "transformation" was in Coach K's mind not Kobe's. Kobe was being Kobe with his work ethic and inspired play...that's ALWAYS been Kobe. Kobe was a Pro's Pro and would never allow personal situations to interfere with business.

@@quaoar213 Okay....well what the hell was his personal situation that needed transforming? He was already a 3X champion and had been to the Finals 5X. How did he do that?

@@pfunk42 It is most probable, Coach K was referring to.... "When I first came in at 8, is really trying to 'plant your flag' sort of thing," Bryant said. "I got to prove that I belong here in this league. I've got to prove that I'm one of the best in this league. You're going after them. It's nonstop energy and aggressiveness and stuff." "Then 24 is a growth from that," he explained. "Physical attributes aren't there the way they used to be, but the maturity level is greater. Marriage, kids. Start having a broader perspective being one of the older guys on the team now, as opposed to being the youngest. Things evolve."

KOBE was a player who wanted to be better then he was. .I think that he worked harder in the Gym practicing morning before the team start playing on the courts. KOBE to me was lots like. TOM BRADY every game BRADY was on the fields before everyone else practicing throwing the football. KOBE BRYANT and TOM BRADY were similar about their daily routines.

The Chinese knew what they were seeing. People can try to explain it however they want. They might have been impressed by Lebron, but they knew Kobe was on another level, period.

Kobe got a lot of that working ethic from watching MJ, achieving something was never enough, there was always a new goal to accomplish, he carried that until his career was over, and he passed that torch to LeBron.
@nicksavov5027
@nicksavov5027 Жыл бұрын
No, he didn't. He got MOVES from Michael, not work ethic. Kobe got his work ethic from his father, Joe Bryant, and it was solidified even more after watching the movie Rudy. Michael also had the work ethic to be one of the greatest of all time, but Kobe didn't get it from him.

@@nicksavov5027 Then you don't squad on what Kobe said in several interviews when asked about MJ , his presence and the advice he gave him. You think the amount of time he put in the gym and practices before games was due to his dad? He saw MJ do it, MJ even invited Kobe several times in pre-season to show him what he was doing in anticipation for the following season. What Kobe the most from his dad is to never to give up. P.S : You seem to forget His dad and mom separated when the family came back from Italy, that had a profound effect in Kobe because he didn't see his father as much as he wanted to. That emptiness was filled in a way by Jordan, whom he saw as a big brother. That special bonding between those was only broken after Kobe passed away.

Lol, Coach K thinks of China as such a bitch that he believes the Chinese are dumb enough to make a black guy their "representative" in 2008, an era when there had been no "wokeness", however fake, and discrimination against the Chinese were rampant and continues to be. Compare the Chinese against the Italians. When the Italians heard of the potential of Kobe milking them for cash for the rest of Kobe's career, I remember the Italian players saying they'd beat the shit out of Kobe the moment he arrived. The Chinese shall be at least as assertive as the Italians. Coach K really drank too much of his own nationalistic koolaid.

@@nicksavov5027 And I never saw an interview where Kobe got a lot of his moves from Jordan, it's a fact, but never saw one. Don't you think? Kobe's father was part of his life up to a certain point. Remember he separated from mother when Kobe was a teenager. Plus, Kobe never played College Basketball which polishes a lot of players' skills and work ethic before you make the next step, going into the NBA. Kobe though having a phenomenal talent was pretty raw when he landed in the NBA. He saw his idol Jordan dominating the league. Jordan saw this kid as his succesor, Kobe listened to his advice to the letter and applied on the court. Jordan invited Kobe several times to see him train, to ask him how to be a professional in order to have a long and successful career. I' d say Jordan helped Kobe turn from a raw talent into a superstar. Facts man , not speculation.
