HALF MOON BAY //BETTER THAN PEBBLE BEACH? //PART 1
Is half Moon Bay better than Pebble Beach? We played a 2 man scramble with a couple of cool guys Desmond and Darren from the Bay area to find out. After the first 2 holes Coach chimes in to give us his thoughts. With the beautiful ocean views and course design we definitely think it's worthy of the comparison.

• HALF MOON BAY //NO MOR...
The Ocean Course opened in 1997, and was designed by renowned landscape architect Arthur Hills in San Francisco’s traditional "links style” design delivering "firm and fast” fairways. The wispy native grasses accenting the tees and the plaintive wail of the bagpipers who play at weekend sundown, join forces to transport players and guests alike back to the game’s origins in Scotland. In 2008, the course is one of the best courses in California and hosted the LPGA Samsung Golf Championship.

You need to make it out to The Links at Bodega Harbor. On a a sunny day you can see the ocean on every hole. Easily my favorite course.

This is dope salute to yall for another great video. Pebble beach really messed up by not letting yall know they were airating their greens lol. But this course does look amazing. I shoot in the low 80's high 70's would love to link up one day and come out and play a round with you guys. I make music too feel free to use any of my songs in your videos! It's my local (SF Bay Area) favorite course for sure ... but compare it to Pebble's a bit of a stretch. PS I'll see yah in Bandon, I'll be there with my 11 buddies when you'll be up there. If I see you I'll come say high with a couple of pints of IPA in my hands ;)

would love to play all those courses around that area and Monterrey, having never played either would be hard to say which is better, but maybe when the cost of the round $550 to cheap as $60 for half moon could be just as good.

Pebble Beach is top 3 course in the world easily better and more iconic than Half Moon Bay. Holes number 7,8,17, and 18 at Pebble are as good as it gets. Holes number 7 and 18 at Pebble are the most photographed holes in golf.

This is my home club and I'm a legends member at the links. Ocean course is gorgeous and has great views, as you can see, but I prefer the Olds course when I play. The holes are way more fun and challenging in my opinion.

Beyond the historical significance of Pebble, I didn't particularly think the course was any better than Half Moon. I think Pacific Groves is better than both of them. I miss the coast now that I've moved out east with my work.

I was just there last weekend. Ocean course is awesome. More holes with ocean views vs. Pebble Beach. Is it better than PB? Probably not, because of the history of Pebble Beach. Just my opinion.

I've played with Darren before at Pasatiempo, a friend of mine has the same swing coach as him. Guy went 1 or 2 over par and he took home a bunch of skins that day. He hits his 2i P790 UDI longer than most people can hit their driver. No joke, I've seen him rip that thing around 280 off the tee with no wind helping. Are you guys also playing The Old Course? Old Course is always in mint condition!

At this point, I would say it's better than PB since you didn't have to worry about the maintenance crew surrounding your every move, along with unaware punched greens 😂

Love the videos! Keep up the good work, gentlemen! I played the Ocean Course a long time ago and absolutely loved it. Wish I can say it’s better than Pebble, since Pebble is out of my price range. 🤣 But “Poor Man’s Pebble” (Pacific Grove Golf Links) is a fun muni track to check out if you’re back in Monterey. Best part, other than the back nine, is the price. Maybe you won’t feel you got robbed as much with Pebble. LOL!

Just played the ocean course this past Friday! Such an amazing place. Holes 16-18 are the best but every hole still has a nice view. It cost me $170 for myself for a 715AM tee time Friday morning. I was staying at the Ritz as well so i'm not sure if that made it LESS or not and we also booked it only 2 days in advance. Incredible

I love HMB and it was a go-to escape when I lived in SF, but my personal opinions is that neither course is a particular good track architecturally. They’re...fine. The Ocean is worth the views, but it is not “linksy”. Plenty of wonky forced carries, and your perfectly struck knockdown draw to bowl one up when the situation looks good will not be rewarded as it’s usually not mown close enough. The Old is quirky challenging, wrecked by houses, and has the weirdest par-5 starting hole (thank you for asking me to bend the ball both ways on consecutive shots on my first hole!). That said, there is nothing like like hitting a good shot on 18 to a tucked right pin as the Ritz patrons clap while having champagne and hot cocoa. It’s your best opportunity to give a nonchalant tour sauce wave as you step on your divot. Just show no fear on the green whatever the outcome.

I stayed at Half Moon Bay for my honeymoon and played both courses and Pebble. I can say 100% it's not better than Pebble. They're beautiful courses, but Pebble Beach is iconic. Punched greens or not, Pebble Beach is an incredible walk of golf.

Looks like a great course for us mid-handicappers. So tired of loooooong par 4s. And your distaste for your Pebble experience still lingers. I don't think it was the course. I played there like 30 years ago and also came away with some negative feelings. Bad vibe there. Although I did birdie 18 and saw a whale on the 8th. Look forward to the next video.
