Mayweather Sr. loves to pop the double or triple jab at the end of his combos, it's classic F.Mayweather Sr. Coach Rick does a great job, I bought one of his DVD's and it's really help my padwork in terms of connectivity and continuous punching. You basially gotta learn the system and Roger or Floyd ain't gonna break it down for you lol

yes it will help. This teaches u to throw punches in combinations especially fighting in close quarters, this teaches u hand eye coordination and that u can see your opponents punches coming easier due to the due diligence of usage on the focus mitts, and you're Prepared to throw counter punches. The mitts simulate close quarter fighting opposed to the heavy bags where u gain power, but you don't really simulate getting hit back.

a lot of the time its a confidence issue but i think sometimes we just need to be reminded to bring the hands up because during training we tend to focus on other aspects of our game (maybe a technique practiced that day) but overall if you train correctly i think it should become second nature to have your hands in the right place.

i think it absolutely would help you. Its like the guy holding the pads says go and immediately you unleash a flurry of 5 or 6 punches while evading where you think his punches will go. now someone tries to get into a fight with you and rather than let him swing a punch you pre-emtively say "GO!" in your head and unleash 6 blows before he even clenches his fist. game over. i think its reflex training and its context sensitive

@NextTime4U coach rick you should be aiming for your students nose by aiming at their shoulders it gives them a false sense of security as your not trying to hit them and other fighters will

No one ONLY trains with mitts sz42781. If you have stepped into a boxing training environment you would knw this!! If you training for speed and accuracy for your punch combinations then you train on mitts. When you want more resistance then you use a bag. When you want to acquire power you go on the big bag. When the trainer thinks the fighter can, he will put a fighter in the ring for sparring to see if he will transfer what he has learnt on the mitts in the ring.

I dont know why maybe its because I like karate and kickboxing type movement but id really like to see some pad work where footwork is the biggest priority? maybe it would be redundant but i think it would be interesting just to see an alternative approach to avoiding punches

Hey Rick, Just joined Liberty Boxing in Feasterville Pa. I am a little too old to get into the game at 40, but I have 3 sons I am looking to get into the sport. I would love for you to come up and give some lessons. I hope to see you there. I can talk to some of the guys and see if we can get you up there. If you show me how to do that mitt work, I will retire after that. That is my Goal. TAKE CARE ! ...Scott S.

but what happens when you dont understand this mitt style technique in theory ? practically isnt it just done for a unknown reason ? i mean mayweathers must have had invented this pad work for something that only they understand that works for them in a fight ?

is it better ten normal mitt work or does your style of boxing play a role in whether this will help improve an individual
