Thank YOU for talking only 27 seconds and then *showing* us. You get right into demonstrating technique. Love the slo-mo.

Thanks - I like the fact that this video provides detailed information on stroke technique! Hopefully some later videos will cover footwork as well.

Estava procurando por vídeos assim. Que bom que eu encontrei apesar de não falar muito bem o Inglês, mas dá para entender perfeitamente com a sua ótima expressão corporal, Ediçao e explicação. Obrigado Simone !

Thank you for the video, Simone. You make great content! So, I've been playing for about 8 months and the thing that I'm still not used to is not hitting the ball so hard (most of my racquet sports experience is in racquetball). My concern with this type of shot/stroke is that I'll end up airmailing it into the next court. This stroke is just something I need to get comfortable with, which will come with practice. Thanks again!

6:25 People who can _reliably_ brush a spinning ball down the line are none too common in 3.0-4.0 rec play (and quite a few can't do it reliably with an easy ball). At this level of play, I'm finding it useful to fill the gap at center court when my partner is pulled wide. There are some who can hit this shot, so I'm using an empirical system where I keep mental track of who can beat me to the outside, and who can't. And even the ones who can beat me to the outside will often make unforced errors if I keep them guessing until the last moment about which lane I'm leaving open. This is why you should listen when Simone tells you to use a compact stroke. If you telegraph your stroke with your swing, I'll be covering the targetted side of the gap most of the time. Adversaries who can generate plus pace at the last second off a short swing pretty much glue my feet to the floor with half a gap on either side. Then I end up stabbing out for the ball to one side or the other with a frog's tongue, which does nothing to help me control my pop-ups.

Excellent advice on form and execution. I had been using too much wrist and not following through high to the shoulder. Changed my accuracy and success rate instantly. How about the same video for the backhand volley with topspin?

Excellent video, again! A question about your grip when it's a return of a cross-court dink vs 3rd shot drop return; do you still(have time to) use a semi-western?

For me this teaching of changing grips just never worked. I've learned for me that as long as i drop the head of paddle all the way down, i have plenty of wrist hinge to create topspin.
