This is a good drill, the one thing I can think of that could help/add to their arsenal is to really sell their moves with back and chest low in whichever direction they’re trying to fake. For example a crossover, instead of just doing a normal cross, have the player really get low almost having the shoulders parallel to the floor and make a quick cross to the other side. That usually helps many players to get by their defender and sell the direction.

This is a great drill, coach! May I ask for any drill you can share for my girls team who are mostly beginners? I currently have 19 members in my team and around 14 of them are beginners. They're still having some difficulty even with the most basic ball handling/dribbling drills. Thank you.

Anyone explain what foot you’re supposed to lead with when ripping? Some are going outside first, others going with their inside
@ctriseathletics1803 Жыл бұрын
I'd say outside because you want to get past the defender..or rip to tho outside of their forward foot ( defender's foot)

New to coaching. Was curious if you have a comprehensive 2 hour practice?
@CoachAshworth3 ай бұрын
During the season I don’t make any videos, but in the off season I could put together something like that.

@@CoachAshworth any tips with how to fill a 2 hour practice? I.e. how long for fundamentals, practicing specific plays, scrimmage time...
@CoachAshworth3 ай бұрын
@@kellyfitzsimonds4919 depends on the team and what you need to focus on. I recommend at least 45 min on skill work (passing, dribbling, shooting) 15 min on a defensive drill. 20 min of small games 2 on 2 or 3 on 3. Then finish with live play for 30-45 minutes in scrimmage situations

Where do find time for stuff like this during the season? I feel like I just can’t get enough time to work on stuff like this because of all the other stuff to prepare for games.

This is usually during off season workouts during the fall or spring.

Team spot shooting drill. Do you use 5 spots or all 7 spots?
@CoachAshworth2 жыл бұрын
@@anthonylewisjr.9295 great question. I will have a video up soon for group shooting. We usually use 5 spots, but I think it depends on what offense you run and where you get your shots in the offense. Always practice those shots and be specific about the spots you shoot from.

You're teaching them to travel most times they lead same hand same foot, they lift their pivot before the ball hits the ground. I hate that this gets called but it just does. Preach for the first dribble to be outside and next to the foot, and look to explode on the second step only.
