The best song from the movie Coal Miner's Daughter by Sissy Spacek. Sissy Spacek won a much-deserved Oscar for her lead in this entertaining biography of country-music legend Loretta Lynn.

Sissy Spacek knocked it out of the park with her singing in the film. Beverly D'Angelo did a great job singing Patsy Cline's tunes too.

A well desreved oscar for Spacek and Tommy Lee Jones should have at least gotten a nomination for supporting actor...he was really great in this.

I just love this scene. It's not overdone like it could have been. The slow winning of the crowd; the growing confidence in her voice; and the acknowledgement of the band is all handled with a degree of subtlety that marks strong direction. It's a classic case of "show don't tell". As much as anything else, Spacek sings and acts this scene wonderfully.

Exactly what I said when I sent it to a close friend of mine. I added "they should've got an 'Oscar' award for 'everybody dressed up as me'...".

Sissy really captured Loretta's sound in singing the songs herself. Great performance in a classic movie.

I loved this movie, thought Spacek did great job, but what I remember best is watching this movie on TV back in 1987,while holding my 8-month-old daughter on my lap. When this part of the movie came on, I starting singing along and my baby put her little hands hands over her ears and started crying. My husband was laughing so hard he almost fell off the sofa. So I can never watch this wonderful film without thinking of that evening. thanks for the upload!

I love her country accent why she sounds so awesome. I’m partial I guess cause I’m a country girl myself. I live In Tennessee too and country music is second to God then Tennessee Vols haha. I gotta admit they couldn’t found a better actress then Sissy S . She even looks just like Loretta so much it’s scary. They have the same smile. Great story from rags to riches and every blooming thing in between! Great movie forever!

I know what it's like to live by a coal mine I live on top of one in the Pittsburgh area of Laurel county Kentucky Peabody coal company did ous in the 1900s and we had coal to heat our home in the 1990s we had a little white house with no heat so we used coal to heat our house back then

I had friends that lived Laurel county KY. I been there for a visit back in the 80s nobody understands how mountain people live. We went into the mountains with our friends and their family knew we were coming. In a south mountain church. I heard the gospel of Jesus Christ preach for the first time in my life. I accept Christ 12 years later due to this experience.

I never forget about it. I tell others that's part of my testimony. One way up into the holler blowing the horn and the same way down the mountain blowing the horn from the mountain hollers.

In the North country during the great depression and WW2 they used wood. When wood isn't available then they used corn cobs in a fireplace. No coal in the North country.
