I fish for baby eels on the river Severn for a restocking program for the sustainable eel group. I'm so pleased you let the eel go , it was definitely on its migratory path back to the sargasso sea in the Bermuda triangle to breed . Every eel is important 👍🤙

I will confess that I know very little about green eels. I do recall though, some years back a fellow angler on the Dee Estuary catching one and when I showed an interest, he explained that the species was in decline and that it was prudent to return all those that we anglers caught. I had no problem with that, as I definitely prefer Mackerel!

@@TheMerlin672 the species I catch are Anguilla anguilla . A Japanese scientist who spent his whole working life studying eels said on his retirement I know now what I knew when I started .. nothing ! Which made me laugh . they are such a mysterious creature and a very important part of the food chain for a lot of other animals . check out sustainable eel group here on KZfaq a guy called Andrew kerr does a lot for restocking behind man made barriers such as flood gates and weirs .

good on you mate, i used to eat jellied and smoked eels that I caught but haven't done so for many years as they're becoming rarer. I wondered if anyone has tried jellying and smoking congas as there seems to be many of those about, I would think coming from salt water they could taste better.

Jay! Cuttlefish aren't apex predators, there's plenty of things further up the food pyramid from them, I'd describe them as effective, specialised predators but also a prey species. Doesn't matter, he's bait now, lol! Keep em coming! Simon

For your next shrimp roll, try mixing the sweet chili with some creme fraiche. Milder rounder flavour matches the delicate seafood.

If you mix the sauce with the Prawns, they will stick together better and make for easier eating. Also, living In a small apartment with no grill, the bun on the toaster trick was a game changer for me! Definitely upped my bacon and egg roll game 🤗
