The footage of the lift hill being torn down guts me. I loved this ride. The roughness of the ride didn't bother me in the slightest. Went to KI on a Sunday one time and me and my buddy were able to walk right onto Son of Beast 7 times in a row lol.

It’s a shame it wasn’t reconstructed with the modern techniques because it was really a great coaster design. Wooden coasters have many ongoing issues.

It was the most brutal coaster ride I’ve ever had. Only rode it twice, once with and once without the loop.

Waited half the day for it (original w/loop) to open when I was Kings Island back in the day, but was worth the wait for me. Rode it 3 times once it did open, a little rough but sooooo glad I got to ride this piece of Coaster History 😊

I got to ride this a whole bunch of times. The first double helix was by far the roughest part of the ride. While it was plagued with mechanical issues, the trains and the speed were too hard on the structure. Also, it didn't help that Paramount built it and left it to Cedar Fair to try to correct.

Yep they just needed to trim speed into the first helix as you hit it full speed after a monster drop and brutal tail-slap bank into it. They should have also enclosed the first helix like the beast but appears had no money 😂

They actually have another ride at kings island called the beast I rode it today and it had no loops but was fast and wooden

The beast is awesome! It is really rough but it almost never breaks down and it's lasted forever

Rode it in 2003 it was crazy you could see the first hill sway several feet when the train hit that first dip before the turn and first hill. Still rode it tho. Loop and all. Great ride and amazing park.

I never got to ride this ride, even though I stood in line for over 2 hours back in 2004. I am a 6'7" 310lbs. fellow, I couldn't squeeze into the car when I tried to get in it. I would really like amusement parks to not only have the" you have to be this big to ride", but too also have one that says "you can't ride if you're over this size". I've noticed over the years that some do, some don't.

It was great for the first couple of years but got rougher and rougher till it was damn near unbearable. The loop was your only break from the jackhammering.

I only got to ride it once. It was awesome. On the other hand, I wasn't surprised that the ride didn't last long. When I was waiting in line, they had to shut down the ride for an hour for emergency maintenance.

I can imagine. I’m 6’3 and the cyclone at six flags New England gave me back pain. Those are the kind of rides I save for last for that reason

Never would have ventured SOB and I only live like 20 miles away! Rode the Beast about 8 years ago. Was with my daughter and unfortunately there was no queue line where I could make up a flimsy excuse for not riding! 😱. Rough but I enjoyed it…person 2 rows in front of us lost their cookies on the ride. lol!!

They took down the loop and kept it open but it caused head traumas so they had to remove it.

@@jules5481 The loop wasn't really the problem--it was that they replaced the trains with lighter ones that were supposed to cause less structural damage to the supports and track, to fix the safety issues, but the lighter trains couldn't make it around the loop and up the subsequent hill. So they removed the loop--but none of this actually fixed the ride.

@@JCBro-yg8vd but in order to do the loop they had to have heavy trains which was really rough on the rest of the track. That's why when they switch the lighter trains they had to remove the loop.

@@nicholasfield6127 Yes, I know. But that didn't solve the ride's structural problems. The ride was practically doomed from the start because of indeaquate construction and Kings Island taking a band-aid style approach to trying to fix it.

The people who made sin of beast were really cheap and not great. It wasn't just made with poor roller coaster knowledge, but just overall cheaply.

I went to kings island in may and it’s just called “The Beast” now and it doesn’t have the loop it’s just got a bunch of tunnels and alotttt of turns and it was my favorite ride🙂

The beast is the originally ride, from the 1980’s. Son of beast was from the 2000’s and stood at the same time as the beast, until it was torn down.

i also really like the beast i convinced my dad to ride it with me and i had back surgery and his back always hurts but it never hurt our backs like my parents said it would but my dad did hurt it hip because the seats are so small

I knew people who were on the ride when the accident happened in 2006. What had happened is the loop added too much pressure on a certain part, and the track split, so when a car went through, the lap bars were pushed really far into their chests. One girl i knew had to go to the hospital because she cracked ribs and she still has a scar there to this day. A different kid had a jaw dislocated. This ride was not safe and should've been shut down in 2006.

They should build a new coaster called "Son of Bitch" that features the same crazy loopty loop and similar extremely tall drops but a lot less track (I saw a video of it. The ride was way too long).

Wish it would happen to the Beast. A beautiful ride that woud really benefit from the RMC treatment. Unfortunately Cedar Fair that now owns KI and RMC are not working together.

Remember riding "The Beast" many years ago at Kings Island. Very rough and almost painful to ride. Can't imagine wanting to ride a bigger, faster one, but KI was never very smart.

B&m makes uninspired crap. They have built the same ride over and over and over and over and over and over without innovating at all. They just copy off others who innovated before so they don't have to risk having a ride not work out. They haven't created ANYTHING all they did was make a smooth track design and coast on that for almost 3 decades.

When they innovate it’s actually good too, look at fury, sucks to they literally just make 50 of the same models but it makes them money, also sucks that they do the vest restraints on everything now which removes any possible forces
