Beautiful video. Excellent work of railway. Fast electric locomotives and class locomotives with cars in two floors. And the whistle is tight. The video is just super. Thanks for the nice viewing.

I travel long distance by Amtrak trains, it's a very restful, relaxing way to travel, don't have to stop to eat, get gas, go to the bathroom & rest for the night. I will be taking Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner on 5/27/2017 to & from Oxnard, CA for the day. I will be riding the Pacific Surfliners more often when I'm in Southern California.

Great video! Even though there non-powered control units, I still enjoy seeing the converted f40's around, takes me back to being a kid when they were the power on everything save for maybe the odd P30ch or SDP40F that was still around in the late 80's

I recognize the Seabrook, MD MARC stop at 13:37 and the Old Town Bowie, MD shot at 2:26. I live in the area so I railfan there every once in awhile. Awesome clips in general though - thanks for the awesome upload(s)!

Amtrak, Southern Pacific & Coaster Productions smart move on your part, I will be traveling by Amtrak more often when I'm home in the Civilized San Diego area. I will be riding the Pacific Surfliners more between San Diego, Los Angeles & Oxnard/Ventura. The last time I drove from Ventura back to Chula Vista, I returned by way of staying on the Ventura freeway(parking lot) & the 405 parking lot, that drive took me 7 hours because people were slowing down for fun & enjoyment in non construction zones and no accidents. I normally after visiting in Ventura, I take the 23 freeway to the Ronald Reagan freeway to the Golden State & then the Santa Ana which both have 3 construction zones, but a much better traffic flow, going that way takes me 5 hours. The Pacific Surfliner will take me to & from Los Angeles & Oxnard/Ventura.

Amtrak has gone through some transformations. When it first started, the cars were old and pretty dirty. Sometimes the A/C didn't work. But, as they've been given enough money to keep going, the cars have gotten much better. I've taken it twice. Once from L.A. to Flagstaff, AZ, and also from L.A. to Chico, CA. Both trips were very nice. And, the food has gotten much better, too. I'm happy Congress has decided to give Amtrak enough money to keep running.

TheoneonlyRobloxian I took a 4 minute Acela ride today from Boston South to Boston Back Bay just for fun. First class so I got access to the metropolitan lounge (hella nice) and got some complimentary food when I boarded. Later on took the Lake Shore Limited 449 from BOS-PIT

I traveled on Amtrak before, once to Canada and the second time to Flagstaff, AZ. I would take the train over flying any day for a long distance trip.

Do you think it's possible for Amtrak to expand its auto rack trains to the major cities like Chicago, New York, D.C., etc? And that they would?

It is possible, but not very likely. I think the Auto Train is pretty much limited to its current route.

I could imagine Amtrak starting a new auto train that runs from Chicago to Phoenix. That auto train would be perfect for snow birds and families who want to get away from the harsh cold winter weather in the Midwest.

SheeWantsAJaayy no, the fuel cap is on the side, they use those hoses for a number of different things. They aren’t commonly used tho.

Amtrak inherited the Northeast Corridor from Conrail (Penn Central, Pennsylvania Railroad). Keep in mind it was only halfway completed (electrification ended at New Haven pre-1990's).

It is a shame that Amtrak will be eliminating dining cars from trains and stop hosting steam excursion trains and also will stop pulling vintage private passenger cars too. Amtrak doesn't care about the past of railroading anymore. They only about the future of railroading.

I want to hear from any Amtrak Conductors out there. I'm Looking to change carers. Would like to get on as conductor with Amtrak. What does it take to accomplish that ? How much time would I have to invest in it? I'm 56 years old I'm not married and have no kids so I have nothing to tie me down. I live in Red Wing Minnesota and the Empire Builder stops here twice a day. Is working for for Amtrak worth it or small I look elsewhere for a change of career?
