Absolutely mind blowing seeing all those coastal defenses. Such good condition after all of those years. The drone shots were amazing and capturing all those tank blocks which seems to go for miles. You mentioned the noise the guns would make. I had an uncle who manned the gun battery at Tynemouth Priory. Before firing practice they had to raise a flag to let the people know in the village to open their sash windows. The noise made from a 9.2 inch gun apparently rattled the windows breaking the glass 😮. Thoroughly enjoyed that adventure. Thanks again , Carl.😊

Hi Carl, thanks, 4 mikes of immaculate blocks!, thanks for the story about your uncle and locals having to open their windows! Plan to get more drone footage over the winter of WW2 defences and will post up the films 😁👍 Cheers Bruce

I nearly didn’t watch this when I saw that it wasn’t a ‘Classic 350’ video but so glad I kept going. Astounding, even more so to say that the structures must be 80 plus years old. Thank you.

I like these videos a lot 😊 We have the same interests in WW2 local history and I have keen interest in Coastal command. I enjoy collecting ww2 RAF kit and what some people see as rubbish. A great find on the beach glad you took it home. Keep it up Bruce video's are excellent and so genuine.

Thanks Chris, winter is the ideal time to make these films when leaves are off trees etc allowing easier filming, now with the drone i can show more above woods etc, so be more stuff like this on the way Here is a film i made you will enjoy on Coastal Command kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bpuZg5Clt8immGg.htmlsi=g2txRtsGn7DRBTD2

What a fantastic place to tour. A person can't help but ponder the amount of concrete and labour required to build the defences on both sides of the channel. 🥃

We agree Lance, So much concrete!, i remember a tv programme saying the UK nearly ran out of quarried concrete in 1941 or 42!

Another top film, those coastal defences are in amazing condition, must be the best I've seen. There used to be so much more down south we used to play in but not much is left as good as these. That concrete is incredible, what an effort!! It's a good job jerry didn't come on fatbikes though

It's never occurred to me that that far north in Scotland was heavily defended. We've mainly focussed in the south of England on east Kent area and the Blitz on London and various other cities as that's where we live. However with Norway approximately 350 miles across the North sea that area was very vulnerable to attack with a fairly sparse population up against southern England. P.S you do very well on those fat bixe. I've got a Voodoo Wazoo which I find hard work up against my normal mountain bike.

Hi Simon, it quickly became realisation in 1940 that Britain could indeed be invaded from Norway and landing around here with little to defend leaving the gate open to moving southwards, The coastal crust can be followed along the whole east coast of Scotland in places like here on the Moray Coast, and closer home to is on the Fife coast and East Lothian 👍 Were running 5” tyres and 4” rims on these Surly Pugsleys, basically Moonlander wheels which can fit the last generation of Pugsley giving the widest amount of float 😁👍 Cheers Bruce

@@Coastriderscotland It would've given the Germans a massive land base to operate from that's for sure.

Remember my late parents taking me over the old bridge in Lossie. The line of the defence, is pretty awesome. Might have to have a hobble along there next summer. The drone doesn’t half capture how splendid it is. 😊. Would you get your Enfield along there?

Hi Mark, the old bridge looked amazing, and real photogenic, a shame it was removed, i found it quite hard to fly the drone along exactly over the line of blocks a d correcting it was a bit jerky but i should get the hang of it with a bit more practice 😁👍 You could get along to the gun batteries from Kingston village at the east end of the beach and you will see MX bike tracks along the pebbles in the drone shots, but may get in bother for doing it 🤣
