This is a dope video! The Cobb SF intake gives the best AF readings for my car as it turns out. All the OTS tunes are MAF based tunes and the Cobb intake is designed to run a high MAF calibration. Another intake like AEM or Perrin feature smaller, closer to stock piping, different maf locations and thicker filter densities than Cobb's design. It's honestly probably safer to use a smaller diameter intake with the stage 1 and stage 2 ots maps, but definitely not the stage 1+ maps, not without a protune. A stage 1 tune and the stage 2 tune use the same 383.13 MAF calibration as the stock tune does, versus the Stage 1+ SF map at 490.25. If you go stage 2, look at the differences between the flat-flange downpipes (grimmspeed, HKS, MAPerfromance) and the bellmouth downpipes(Cobb,Invidia, TurboXS) that will tell you whether or not you may need to go Higher or lower wastegate duty. I have a Grimspeed DP and I run the HWG map because I make 16.8 psi on the normal wastegate map due to mechcanical limitation, but with the HWG map I make 18.5 psi.

Thanks for the tips this is very helpful! I will be going speed density soon for a BOV. I hear the speed density is more accurate than the MAF.
@Ed50482
@Ed50482 4 жыл бұрын
JotaJota STI that’s what I hear too, my brother went hybrid speed density on his 11 STi for the same reason. S/D tunes are based on the map and maf sensor I believe, but I’m still shaky on speed density tunes. It’s based off of Volumetric efficiency I think, but I haven’t really messed with that yet.

Just wondering- I just got into a 2020 sti and ordered this intake and stage 1+ also, I see in videos the whole - turn the key to on position etc.. my sti has a push button start, I’m guessing I’m just going to press the button once to go into aux mode?.. 🤷‍♂️ a bit different than having a key, just want to make sure I don’t screw something up

The update from my last post is I installed the CAI with the Cobb stage 1+ tune, also installed the cobb SS catback recently. Loving how the car feels and sounds now! I have a Cobb AOS, Koyorad radiator and cylinder 4 mod on the way then it's time for the protune. Good luck with everything if you decide to do some work to it.

It seems this comment section is pretty knowledgeable, maybe someone can help me. I have a 17 STi with a GS catted dp and a catback, and obv a AP. I haven’t tried any different map other than what was recommended when I first married the car to AP. My af learning has spiked recently, from normal ranges to 22-25. That being said I was in the middle of putting an intake in, but had to stop cause I didn’t know the hose leading to the interior was just for turbo noise. So I put everything back now I have high numbers, any ideas?

I just installed this intake for my 2020 STI, had the same issue with MAF sensor wire length. Are you still positioning your sensor wire like that? It got me worried a bit cause i'm not sure if the wire touching the filter will cause any potential issue. I ran stage 1 map with AEM intake before but switched to Cobb for the sound haha. Thanks!

From what I read the OTS maps are only for the cobb intake. You would have to contact cobb to see if rhey have a tune for the aem intake. Your catback exhaust doesnt effect the tune.

The 2020 STI's stock tune is pretty good and upgrade from the older VA. Do you think the Cobb AP tune would be better? Also, I'm thinking of either an SF intake or a DP with the Cobb OTS tune. I thought about a protune, but the shop owner I'm working with said it wouldn't be worth it until I get more mods such as flex fuel or fuel upgrades.
@JotaJotaSTI
@JotaJotaSTI 3 жыл бұрын
From what I read the cobb ots tune is better than stock but a protune is the best option. Yea I would try to get more mods to only protune once or else you will have to protune each time you add mods and that can get expensive.

Hi is there any difference between big sf intake versus a regular sf intake? i have a cobb ap and plannin to go stage1+.. but what confuses me is the big af and regular sf intake and also do accesport have map on both size of intake?? thanks for any input! just bought my accesport 4 hours ago lol and got a stage 1 tuned 91 octane :)
@JotaJotaSTI
@JotaJotaSTI 4 жыл бұрын
The big intake I assume is the cold air intake which is a longer tube that makes the air filter closer to the ground having it suck up cooler air and away from the engine to prevent heat soak. Downfall is if you live in an area that rains a lot or has floods you can suck up water in there and hydro lock your engine. I believe cobb AP only has ots maps for their intakes and not for the other brands. Hope that helps!

They say in the video that stage 1 is without an intake and stage 1+ is with an intake. This is incorrect. 1 is for the intake and 1+ is for an intake and cat/axle back exhaust. This incorrect info in these type of videos is how people mess up their engines and turn around and blame the map and/or the product installed. Do your research wisely before listening to these type of videos!!!
