Thanks for confirming these still work with the factory short shifter. I knew kits used to on the older STIS, but I wasn't 100% sure if that was still the case with the newer models. I've got a 2019 STI on order with the STI short shifter and it's nice to know can add the COBB kit on top of that. Install looks to be kind of a pain, but seems worth it judging by your reaction! 👍

It's a great mod for the Sti. I did mine but also did a stiffer trans mount you should add that to your stage 1 shifter 👍

It looks butter smooth and tight. Got a standard 6 speed shifter on my 2016 sti, I can’t wait to get this but it’s a bit intimidating without access to a proper car lift.

It’s quite easy, just take your time. Honestly don’t need a lift. Only access to the driver side to lock the reverse cable in place.

new to the STI world, with the factory upgraded short throw shifter can you simply order the upgraded rear bushing you used with it, my car is on order

Yes you can just upgrade the bushings.

how did you deal with putting back the reverse cable? I already have all the underneath bushing change I need to get a Cobb short shifter.

there is a triangle shaped pivot point near the reverse cable on the transmission. there is a hole in it allowing you to pull it back and place an allen key in the hold. this will keep the reverse cable all the way extended to give you slack to reinstall the pin through the shifter and cable .. i highly recommend ziptieing your reverse lockout cable after doing the short shifter.. lowering the shifter will cause the reverse cable to drag on top of the driveshaft.. not a pleasant noise and could eventually damage the cable!

Just got my 2020 sti with 14k miles and my biggest complaint is the clutch(I'm getting use to it) and the slop in the shifter. It kinda reminds me of a honda I owned with 200k on the clock. Blows my mind that something so new is so sloppy. Dose this void subaru warranty?

Have you ever had any clearance issues with your reverse lockout cable or fuel lines on the shifter side of the transmission?

You can obviously do it without if you don't move anything meaning the gear assembly. Putting the Allen key in is a precaution move

I've always been looking into getting a short-shift kit for my car as well. My only concern is whether the shorter throws will increase your chances of mis-shifting when you're shifting fast like, for example, when you are on a track.

Not at all. It's the opposite. Because of the sharp precision throws, each shift is accurate. I already went on the track with this setup. Butter! 💯

That was the most frustrating install I’ve ever done. The pin holes on the COBB were too small and I had to drill them out to get the pin back in. Feels good now that it’s installed but what a mess.

STi don't have that plate. Only WRX. I had bought the boomba plate and noticed it didn't have one lol 😂 so yeah.

Mine is installed but the shifter is not completely centered. Did you have a similar issue? Seems as if everything is shifted to the right a bit.

@@Aprazed uninstalled mine and returned it. Make sure you zip tie the reverse lockout cable. If it’s in 5th and 6th gear it may be hitting your drive shaft and you’re gonna fuck up your reverse lockout cable.
