Welcome back to your favorite show produced solely based on the opportunity to use a pun: Cobbler with Cobblers! Kelsey baked up a fresh raspberry cobbler and Lucas sits down and enjoys a plate with Andrew - one of our department leads here at Nicks.
Get a new look inside the world of Nicks Boots as Andrew shares the best and most challenging parts of his job. Stick around to hear about his hobbies outside of work - they might surprise you! (and you're really going to want to hear the advice he'd give his younger self!)

I’m that 67 customer who is sad about certain limitations. It’s funny that my first and favorite boot from Nicks is a 67 in Natural Dublin. It’s such an amazing pair of boots. Thankfully with the DomePro I am finally able to get my English Tan Bridle in the 67. It’s not configurable on any other W&C boot on site. I appreciate that it was made available this time. Looking forward to those so much. Now you just need to offer W&C Latigo in the 67. 😉

I love hearing the thoughts and questions that come out in a coffee table conversation.

I've worn boots and shorts for years. So did the Brits in WW II in North Africa. Fun videos, I feel as though I'm eavesdropping.

As massage therapist I will say if you do any job using your hands a day in a Day Out it will take a toll and it can. Break you down If you're doing the same repetitive motions everyday good thing nobody is hand welting

Really like hearing/learning about the trade and the goings on of the shop. When do you guys actually sit for the podcasts? Don't know why I find myself wondering(?) Is it after work? During the workday? Sunday afternoons? Just curious...

Question: Why do a lot of people at Nicks seem to work there, go away, and then come back. It sounds like employee turnover is tough and would be a pain to manage both production and employee skill set. Is it a case of the grass looks greener or culture. Is this just a Pacific North west thing to hop boot makers?

A lot of different factors. Spokane does have a unique ecosystem of multiple boot manufacturers which provides options to bootmakers if they are unhappy with their workplace. Most who have left and came back, came back to a completely different ownership/management. Nicks has really put an emphasis on trying to make bootmaking a viable career choice for employees over the last 10 years after the Mowes bought the company. So if you watch these podcasts you may see a bit of a pattern there.

If I recall correctly, allot of their employees changed hands during the pandemic due to workplace personnel count restrictions. The people who came back have been in the general area boot industry for awhile so they have options for changes of pace. They also got allot of new folks who were previously working in the food/warehouse jobs and those jobs generally have a "come and go" workforce too. But the fella before me also explains it well too.
