@Fox Killer A lot of people thought it was going to be bad, based on that trailer. That's cause the trailer was shitty. And if you think this is the best series of all time, than you don't got a brain. And I love the series, but it doesn't match up to the greatest of Sopranos, or Breaking Bad.

@Zurround100 Agreed. Though possible, his US Army service would have put him at 20yo at most when the war in europe ended. He would have left Okinawa technically as a child because there's no way he would have been allowed entry into the US after December 1941 as a 16 year old (one would think). Adding to that a wife and child in the internment camp... I think they could have pulled 3-5 years off his birth date. It only stands out beacuse they've made such a strong effort with accuracy and continuity in just about every other part of the story.

I know no one will ever read this... that was a beautiful tribute to Pat Morita. His work as an actor was inspiring to so many. Knowing that the stories he told are still being echoed through time is encouraging and comforting. My hope is that one day through lessons like these we can all find "balance."

I totally agree that his revenge hurt more than who he intended. How could he not thought of the other shops? Did the other strip mall really have twice the rent? Jonny made a drunk mistake. Daniel made a huge plan to consciously hurt the other. Not that we're less accountable if we're drunk, but that he, without evening being drunk, did a TERRIBLE thing. That's actually REALLY horrible.

TO THE WRITERS, PRODUCERS, DIRECTORS, MR MACCHIO AND MAR LARUSSO..........THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING TRUE TO THE ORIGINAL KARATE KID. Seriously. I am so sick of the remakes, reboots, refreshes....that absolutely betray and cheapen the original version of whatever they are trying to rekindle. When news of this Karate Kid series came out I figured.....ok, something totally sacred and beautiful from my childhood is going to get perverted. BUT I SEE original characters, I see original music and score.....I see heart. PLEASE STAY LIKE THAT. What's also pretty cool is that Will Smith is a Co-producer on this series, which shows that he's always been a fan. That Kung-Fu Kid movie wasn't all that bad either, I have to admit. Is there a chance for Hilary Swank (Next Karate Kid) to appear somewhere? Sure, she never did associate herself with Daniel-san but it would still be cool to see her character existing in that same universe... ;)

Agreed on all counts, man. I thought this was gonna be lazy fan service like so many other recent IP revivals but they expertly use Johnny's outdated persona and the likableness of Ralph Maccio in conjunction with writing that is lightyears better than I thought it would be to make something that is far more than the sum of its parts.

If Cobra Kai's story is about Johnny Lawrence forging his own Cobra Kai with honor, then Cobra Kai is also about Daniel Larusso TRULY finding balance within himself and following in the footsteps of his late and great mentor, Mr. Miyagi. This serious is amazing.

This series reminds me of the yin and yang circle. The white side has a black dot and the black side a white dot, symbolizing how each side inevitably has a bit of the other within it. Chaos and order. Too much order is bad, it tilts towards corruption and blindness. But too much chaos and there’s no structure to build upon, no stability. Daniel is order. Johnny is chaos. And their both on the path toward the middle. With this series, it’s like we’re watching Johnny and Daniel finally struggling to find balance within themselves and with each other. It’s fantastic! 👏😁

I was a kid when I saw the movie Karate Kid. Like Daniel, I was a young boy living with a single mom, I was a social outcast and was bullied. The movie shaped me. Now, I am 40 years old, and seeing Daniel and Johnny as middle-aged men, struggling with life, it is a strange experience to be able to connect the childhood memories so seamlessly with growing up and dealing with hardships, regret and maturity. Many thanks to Ralph Macchio, Billy Zabka and the team of Cobra Kai, for bringing us this gem of a series.

He’s so determined to shut down Johnny’s dojo that he’s willing to put the screws on every other business there just to drive out ONE (1) man. Daniel and Johnny are both guys who, while flawed, are by and large good guys. I like that this show shows that while Daniel is at heart a good man, he still lets his anger get the better of him. It also shows that while Johnny clearly can be an abrasive jerk, he has a sensitive side to him. That said, assholes like Kyler and his gang have nothing good about them.
