There's actually an alternate, darker ending seen in the UK, which Coby actually guessed... Sarah's escape was a dream, and she actually was hallucinating that she escaped and was witnessing her daughter's birthday, but she was in reality trapped underground forever. Of course that ending woulda made Descent 2 not possible so I think they scrapped it as non-canon 😅

I hate that people never get to see the original ending. The one I watched when The Descent first came out in theaters here in the States was that she hallucinated getting out of the cave and when she woke up she was still in the cave with the crawlers circling in on her. It’s odd they always show this ending because if you’ve only seen this ending it literally makes no sense going into the second film.

Great reaction Coby, this is movie awsome and so underrated. There some fun-facts about it, According to the audio commentary on the special edition DVD, there was an exact replica made of Nora-Jane Noone and after the movie was finished, she got to keep the head of the doll. Once, she put it in her mother's freezer as a joke. As stated in the cast commentary on the special edition DVD, Shauna Macdonald, Natalie Mendoza and Alex Reid did the entire white water rafting sequence on their own without any stunt doubles or special effects. Twenty-one separate cave sets were built for the film. These were carefully reused with different camera angles, set dressing and lighting to suggest a nearly endless collection of interconnected tunnels and caverns. For realism, the makers often limited the lighting of the sets to light sources that the protagonists brought with them, such as flashlights, helmet lights and light sticks. The appearance of the creatures was kept secret from the cast members until the first scene in which they encounter them was filmed. When the cast were finally filming the scene where the group encounter the crawlers, the actors were genuinely scared and screamed the building down, running off set and laughing. Keep up the good work.

As Above So Below is a similar trapped underground movie that Coby needs to react to. Tense with a lot less jump scares at least.

I always love watching Coby's reactions. They are so heartfelt. I would become a patron of the channel if she was the only one on it. I loved all your Hitchcock and Rocky reactions. They use cams to climb and support their weight. Just look up any KZfaq video, and you will see everything you need to know about how they work. My favorite genre is horror, so please keep them coming. I love those screams as much as I do your laughter.

Always loved that shot at 10:23 with the crawler all the over on the far left, clear as day, that most people miss because you're focusing on the women...

I prefer the other version but still I like your reaction I watched this movie a lot and seeing different reactors watching it for the first time reminiscing my first time watching this as a kid this is one of the movies that's scared me, seeing none of them get out alive 😩 that time when dvd's are still popular. Other movies I watched at that time are Anaconda 1&2, Boogey Man, Halloween Resurrection, Hollow Man etc 😅

This is a crazy claustrophobic horror thriller film! They didn't film it inside an actual cave system. It was filmed in a large sound stage at Pinewood Studios, London England. This movie is ALIEN, but takes place inside a cave.

If they survive in the dark and go up to hunt, they likely don't go to the surface unless it's night to hunt. You'd probably never see them daytime in the forest. -OG

it is 100% the decent into madness. The UK version anyway. The other ending can blow me. It sux. But my god. that window dream jump scare.. wow, perfection. That's how you do a fckn jump scare.

Now for The Descent 2

The camping, well cabin-ing, wasn't that bad, it was the spelunking which was killer. Ha. Particularly in an unknown cave system. The KZfaq channel, Roanoke Gaming, explains what the creatures (most likely) are; he does a good job, highly recommend. But basically, the creatures are descended from a group of ancient pre-historic peoples, "cave men", that got trapped down in the caves, and over several generations adapted / devolved into those things. As has been mentioned there is an alternate ending. I like this ending better.

I think the claustrophobia stuff in the first half is way scarier than the monster stuff later on.

Human echolocation is an actual thing. Blind people can make clicking sounds and get a good sense of their surroundings. In my mind 12,000 13,000 years ago during the last ice age people retreated to the caves and never came out. You watched the wrong version of this movie, aka the zmerican version. The PROPER version of this movie is the international cut. The rnding is fo much better and turns a good horror movie into a fantastic drama with grest horror.
