Pocari Sweat is indeed Japanese but it's a sports drink not an energy drink. Great for hydration during the humid summers there. It's Japanese owned. The Coca Cola owned equivalent of Pocari Sweat in Japan is called Aquarius. I used to drink that every day. Good stuff.

The people that started Pepsi originally worked at Coca Cola in the early days. A good book regarding this and other interesting unknown facts about different companies is "Big Secrets" by William Pounds tone. I think it came out in the early '80's (1981?). His conclusion was that Coke and Pepsi probably know each others' formulas because of the early association of Pepsi's founders with Coke. They just avoid conflict with one another.

@Bloke Mike: There's at least one video about what fizzy soft drinks are called in various regions of the US. "Coke" is one used generically but in other parts of the country they use other words for a generic fizzy beverage. You might want to review one of these videos.

I used to work for Coca Cola a few years back. Pretty interesting company. Just in America they're different companies like Coca Cola North America, Coca Cola bottling, Coca Cola Swire and so on. He hit on a few but missed a few as well. They own a bunch of the chip brands, numerous other food products. I believe they own an airline company, a cargo ship line. What I do know is the lab or "testers" had the best job ever. When you get hired they give a whole binder of products you cant bring on facilities that Pepsi owned, That rule saved me from a lot of Taco Bell.

Last time I visited Epcot in Orlando they had a Coca-Cola building that had all their products from around the world on tap. You could try each one. At the time it had a good 30 to 40 drinks. A lot of them were disgusting.

If you go to a restaurant in The United States, South, and you want a soft drink, you tell the server you want a Coke. Then the server asks you what kind of Coke you want. Then the server might start rattling off the types of "Coke" that they have... "We have Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Siera Mist, Mountain Dew, etc. In the South, Coke is like the toilet tissue brand Kleenex. If someone needs a nose tissue, the common ask is for a Kleenex.

In the U.S. you can get Pocari Sweat at any Asian grocery store. But I've never seen it anywhere else.

I took a few graphic design courses in college. My professor told us with logos you either have words or pictures. Not both. Your picture should be able to portray the brand on its own. He also left out monster energy and reign energy. Bang energy is a Pepsi brand.

The soft drink he forgot in this video is Barq's root beer, which is one of the better root beers available, especially if you can find the bottled version (which i've found only in Barq's home territory of New Orleans and South Mississippi). Coca-Cola bought Barq's in 2000.

Anti-monopoly laws in the U.S. are incredibly weak but if Coca-Cola were to try to purchase Pepsi, those regulations would finally kick in. Similar laws in the E.U. woukd have something to say too.

If they could buy Pepsi, I'm sure they would. Companies set up fake competition among their own properties all the time. It generates buzz for both brands. But a merger that big would have regulatory implications, and make it harder to enforce environmental and safety laws.
