The most extreme approach I can remember for any flight I've been on is the former Kai Tak Airport in Hong Kong. You could see the flats/apartments below you as the plane came into land. On the converse, I still remember as a small child looking up from the veranda of a relatives flat and seeing the planes screaming overhead as they came in for the infamous Runway 13 approach.

Being an Indian who never flown out of the country, my most memorable approach was to Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport, Leh, Ladakh at 3,256 m (10,682 ft), on the lap of the Himalayas. It has just enough runway for a A320. The natural view is spectacular. ❤️ (BTW, it's a defence airport with limited civil flight slots - it's an Indian airforce base)

As a passenger, the most special approach I remember is the one of Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport, in Cusco, Perú. You are flying through the Andes mountains, then the pilot does a hard left and you find yourself landing in there. Exciting stuff!!! Great video, I hope you make more of these!

I loved watching this approach into Lugano/Agno. As I mentioned in another comment, I grew up in Varese, Italy, from where we drove to Lugano regularly to do our grocery shopping. As Germans living in Italy, the grocery stores in Switzerland carried certain items you couldn’t get in Italy. So, we always drove by this airport on that road right before the runway from Ponte Tresa to Lugano. My grandparents also came to visit one year and camped in that campground in Agno, right between the road and the Lago di Lugano. I remember the planes always coming in rather low. This reminds me so much of my childhood 😄. Thank you for this video!

I shall never forget leaving the old military airbase in Narsarsuaq, Greenland. As a passenger, while taxiing out you see the runway sloping down towards the sea, and across a very narrow strait at the end of the runway there is this very high mountain, and you inevitably think: "How tf are we getting up over that without crashing into it?" But we aren't, the moment we are airborne the pilot makes a very sharp left turn away from the mountain. Rollercoaster, yay!!! Keep it coming, I love watching your videos - girl power!!!

As a passenger, one of my most memorable approaches was on a flight from Phoenix, Arizona (KPHX) to Salt Lake City, Utah, USA (KSLC). The descent and approach wove through the snow-covered Rocky Mountains with the peaks much higher than the approach path. Very picturesque and interesting. SCL sits in a bowl surrounded by high mountains, very much like Lugano. Thank you for your videos and very informative explanations. I asked my 20 year old grand-daughter to watch so she can get motivated to become a pilot also.

My most memorable approach was in a Brymon airways Dash 7. They'd oversold the seats and wanted a volunteer to travel up front in the jump seat. I grabbed the opportunity and we flew from Plymouth to Exeter and then from Exeter to Gatwick. The approach to Gatwick sold me on the idea of a flying and inspired me to obtain my PPL. It was more the act of being upfront in a commercial plane albeit a very small one that made the impression than the approach itself. Having said that the view of the runway approaching through the cockpit windows in the early morning as we descended, was quite stunning to the first time veiwer. The year was 1991.

Great video. I liked the view and the very informative captions. Favourite landing as a passenger: Air France Caravelle into Ajaccio (Corsica) in 1979. Favourite landing at the controls: Biggin Hill in a PA28. I had just got the hang of controlling the rudder for a crosswind landing for the first time.

Excellent! Steep approaches are fun on their own, so with the views and the music, this video is beyond fun. I have never flown to Lugano, but I did stay at the camping south of the runway in ... 1981. My favorite steep approach so far is London City, landing on runway 09: flight over London, you can see the Shard very close, then you dive onto the runway... So much fun!

Several years ago I used to fly in a small airline from Albuquerque to Los Alamos, New Mexico. It was a small 14 seat high wing aircraft. I don't remember the model. You flew among the mesas, and suddenly you went into a steep dive to land. I always liked it.

Though I grew up around airplanes and have flown in many types from WW II to commercial jets, I never felt the need to become a pilot. That said, I love your channel because you explain in simple, precise terms the ‘hows’ and ‘whys’ of flying as well as, in the cockpit views, what we’re seeing through the windscreen. Videos of you piloting are interesting too because in the approaches, you’re abuzz with activity but always showing a calm demeanor. Keep up the great work.
