COCKPIT VIEW OF LANDING AT NEW YORK KENNEDY JFK AIRPORT RWY 13L

8 жыл бұрынCockpit view of a twilight VOR approach (runway 13L) at JFK airport completed with "Parkway Visual Approach" (formerly named as Canarsie). Airplane must follow the ground strobe lights to get to the runway. In approach (3:40 min), you can see the Brooklyn Airport, nowadays closed.

The Brooklyn airport is(was) Floyd Bennett Field. Old general aviation field, turned shortly into a Naval Air Station, then Coast Guard Air Station before it was decommissioned in the early 1970's . The field is still utilized by NYPD's Aviation Unit for helicopter operations.

Did you guys have to fly over LI then over the Atlantic then Jersey then back to LI?

Over LI just once. Anyway, the area to fly over depends on the approach and runway.

I was wondering as my flight had to do what I said (over LI then ocean then over Jersey and back onto li). flightaware.com/live/flight/JBU16/history/20160802/1400Z/KSFO/KJFK

Sometimes you have to keep some headings given by ATC. Probably this was the reason you overflew LI twice.
