Jessie Pegula must be a genius. She has the quietest demeanor on court, makes not a sound, and doesn't really seem to have any one outstanding talent as a player. Yet she does everything well enough to be in every rally, and she has a sneaky pace on the ball that always seems to throw her opponents off and gain her the edge, which gives her opportunities to lash those cross-court liners and those down-the-line backhands. She is the Stealth Queen. VERY underrated. Go Jessie!! Gauff still looks very good in all phases, and for her it is just a matter of time before she wins her share of matches. Thanks for the nice highlights. Go USA!

Pegula is a deceptively good player. She never seems like she's trying hard but she finds all the openings.

Can u upload Swiatek - Kasatkina?

I really enjoy Pegula's strokes, So flat and so penetrating but doesn't look like she's putting so much effort into it, kinda like Pliskova or a Davenport. I'd say Sloane Stephens also has that kind of easy power but her shots are more loose looking as if her limbs are a slingshot of sorts, Pegula, Pliskova and Davenport had/have a more rigid look to them but effortless looking at the same time.

Jessica played very well today and also at AO. Coco needs to find confidence in her game and in herself to get back on track. Maybe she needs another Coach than her father.

Not sure why Coco gets so much criticism considering she is still so young and has plenty of time to become an even better player. She must be doing something right; Top 20 at 17 (18 in March) without winning a Major; Already won 2 WTA titles; Youngest player in top 190 (191 Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva 17 in August). Like all young players that achieve something great, she is hardly responsible for the hype, and it's doubtful the majority of her critcs have achieved a fraction of what she has..

I think gauff needs a change of coaching scenario so that her game evolves. She used to such an attacking player. Now she stands in the back and Hope's her opposition makes a mistake.

Make it make sense WTA….Pegula won the match yet there is more points won by Gauff in the highlights. The favouritism and hype is obvious!

since Gauff's break through in 2019, there are so many and many wta young players broke through like Emma, Bianca, Swiatek, Krejcikova, Badosa, Jabeur, Pegula, Collins.... but Gauff exits so many early rounds still gets more hype than everyone combined.

She may not have won but put up a good fight the only way to get better is keep playing and she seems to keep doing that

Does anyone agree that Coco seems to have played in the last couple of years , simply a lot? Possibly just goo much for such a young person. She just seemed to be in every tournament.

Its just the beginning of the year she will get there she is only 17. She is not too bad for her age tbh.

There's a general lack of aggression in Gauff's game these days. She isn't going to get far playing safe tennis. She has to be willing to take risks.

Coco has the goods to go all the way but she has to find some confidence, hit flatter and possibly rotate (not completely drop) her coaches. She would benefit from a Darren Cahill or one of Maria Sharapovas old coaches. No Patrick.

Gaul is not overrated. She is a solid player with tremendous athletic skills. There is tremendous depth in the WTA now and it's anyone's guess who gets hot one week and rides a new belief system. Coco just needs to continue to keep her head down and keep plugging away. One of these days it will be her turn. Love Pegula's business-like approach, with hardly any fist pumping and "come on" shouts or grunts. A true professional and a pleasure to watch.

Gauff keeps pushing the ball, coco needs to attack the ball, pinpoint your shots, use those angles and improve your first serve. I don't like that pushing ball strategy, change your game.

I feel sad for people on here who are commenting how Coco lost the match and what are the reasons behind it. These are the same people who are no good in their own lives and when taught for decades won't still be able to hold a tennis racket let alone hitting it across the net. People cut her some slack. She's just a teenager and has time and again proven her right to play on these courts around the world and has the talent to win bigger tournaments and even grand slams. She's here to stay and is going to have a wonderful and a long career.

Coco Gauff is the Shaccari Richardson of Tennis. All hype.

They need to snap coco out of that horrible forehand stance. It’s like she’s a tree only moving her arms when hitting it.

Coco's first serve was the problem. 53% for the match is not good enough at this level. Those kinds of percentages allow your opponent to dictate play. Coco played well on the ground but hurt herself with that serve. Time for help with that. It's powerful but not consistent enough. Maybe time for a real coach to turn this around.

If Coco is over worked we may not see her anymore in the upcoming years. I hope she has a contingency plan like college? Law School, Medical School? Just can't be hitting that little god forsaken ball on your life young lady. Up your average.

Coco needs a new coach. The way she is playing now is not any better than she was 2 years ago. She was very young 2 years ago, but she is not that young now. She can't waste another 3 years for nothing.

Seems like Gauff’s improvement has been stagnant for a while. Maybe she just peaked too early? I really hope they have a therapist working with her because these first round losses plus the media pressure on her will be no good for her mental health

please please please stop showing slow mo shots after a shot we just saw. WTA highlights are notoriously too long and drawn out. We want hot shots, long rallies and drama.

Gutted over coco performance

A significant amount of the resentment of any attention on Gauff and the Schadenfreude when she struggles is due to both overt and latent racism. Has she been over-hyped by the WTA and media? Yes. And instead of showing empathy, a huge number of people whine endlessly and complain, but virtually never direct those complaints anywhere except at this young woman. Lots of young American men have been over-hyped in the last 10 years, but they were male and white and far fewer people were upset.
