3/4 c sugar
1/4 c flour
1 1/2 c milk
2 egg yolks
1/2 t. vanilla
1/2 t. coconut extract
1 T. butter
1/2 coconut
crust
2 3/4 c Ap Flour
1 t. Salt
1 t. baking powder
1 T. sugar
1/2 c shortening
1 c milk

My grandma made fried pies of all kinds. They were so good, she was such a good cook. She was one of the kindest people I have ever met, I can truthfully say I never heard her say anything bad about anyone else. You remind me so much of her. Thanks for your wholesome content and hard work.

Miss Lori, I love watching your videos more than anything. I lost my Mama in 2018 and she taught me to love to cook and bake, she made the best coconut cream pie. These fried pies remind me so much of her. I am going to make these for my husband. Thank you for making me think of a wonderful recipe from my Mama. God Bless You, the world needs more folks like you.

That looks delicious. I think some chocolate glaze would be really tasty on these. I love Almond Joy and Mounds candy bars. I imagine the fried coconut pies with a drizzle of 🍫 glaze would have that 'candy bar' flavor.

Lori, you are so right about coconut cream anything! My absolute favorite. If we lived closer - I am in TN - I would say save one for me because I’m on my way! I love coconut cream pie but to be honest I can’t make one because I would eat it all in one day. I will have to try these for sure.

When we were kids, my favorite pie was coconut cream, my brothers was banana cream, and we fought like cats and dogs over what pie to make one day, so my Gramma Lucy made a banana/ coconut cream combo hybrid pie, mainly to shut us up lol!!!!! Possibly the best pie ever!! I can’t wait to try these fried pies!!! And make some banana ones too lol😜!!!!

When I was a kid, my Mom would sometimes use canned biscuits to make fried pies. Not near as good as homemade crust, but who doesn’t like fried bread of any kind.

My daddy would've loved these! One of his fav pies was coconut cream. He passed away in 2003. My mom would probably like them with butterscotch filling!!

Hello from Oregon. It's funny, I was going to make some of these in the baked version. Actually bought coconut flavoring, and will use coconut milk. For fried pies, I'd like to make a crockpot of salsa verde pork for savory... onions on the bottom. But, I'll have to try some of these sweet ones fried, also. Looks good. Saturday here too, lol.

Hi Ms Lorie and Mr Brown You are both a inspiration to me! I was recently diagnosed with Emphysema, I retired from nursing so I know what I'm up against but it still very scary and hard to deal with. One of the most missed food my Nanny made were fried pies. She made all varieties but yes chocolate was her favorite. Never heard of coconut but yep I'd eat that in a heartbeat. Gotta search for your chocolate recipe. Can't believe I missed this one!

My mom made the best apricot Fried Pies...... she laid them out on a cookie sheet and glazed them with powdered sugar and milk with a little almond extract.

I make potted peach pies just like my mom, grandma and great-grandma! ❤️ If we’re feeling fancy, we’ll sprinkle on some confectioners sugar when they cool off. Coconut meringue pie is my absolute favorite, so definitely going to try this recipe! 😋
