These two journalists didn't understand the real meaning of La Marseillaise. The "impure" blood that has to be spilled is the blood of the French people. During monarchy, noble people claimed to be of pure blood. By irony, the French people that are not noble (the largest part of population) called themselves of "impure" blood. This part of the song actually means that French people are ready to die (so spill their blood) to protect the country against any threat to what is France.

France should be proud of its Rooster, while other countries cling to a predatory bird.

Fun French Fact: "Kakariko Village" is a reoccurring setting in the "Zelda" video game series. The village has many chickens called "cuccos" and the name "Kakariko" is based on the French onomatopoeia "Cocorico"! There are other French references in the village too such as a hunchback named Dampé who resembles Quasimodo and even a creepy dungeon lined with skulls that was based on the Paris Catacombs!

CocoRico is a very popular Coconut Soda Drink in Vietnam. I always keep an eye out for it in the States, because it's nice to have one can in the pantry. We use it not only to drink but to braise meats.

I don't think Nationalism and Patriotism are not the same things. Patriotism is just a form of Nationalism that is known as Civic Nationalism. And Nationalism that they talked about might refer to Ethnic Nationalism or other gruesome forms of Nationalism

what a pathetic explanation about the Rooster symbol...It's actually a noble animal whodespite his size, he doesnt back down even against a bigger enemy...he's fearless, proud, protective, hard working animal...and he's the only animal Lion are scared of !
