It's been a really long time coming but the 1953 Chevy Truck we have been building with a Code 504 S10 frame swap kit is DONE and ready to drive! The scope of work on one of these Code 504 frame swaps IS extensive but in the end of the project as we look back it was very well worth it! Compared to a full "finished frame" you would purchase for your hotrod car or hotrod truck, this is definitely a viable option.
Originally this truck came to us as a bit of a basket case, unfortunately the previous person who worked on it had done some very questionable modifications that made the vehicle nearly undriveable. Over the course of the past year and a half we have slowly been chipping away at the issues, the biggest of which was fixed by swapping out the butchered original '53 Chevy frame for the more modern S10. Through the video series we have documented here we knocked out one issue at a time, most of which we knew we were going to run into, many we got to be surprised by.
As we get to the end of the project and wrap up the "little bits" like getting the Classic Instruments gauges working, replacing a bad out of the box brand new fuel sending unit, and some awful engine oil leaks... the light is shining in the tunnel! When you're 85% of the way done a LOT of people loose focus and motivation, us included, but you've just got to get a little bit more done to finish that project car or project truck!
