You gotta go freeway miles at a constant speed check the code reader afterwards still could be bad don't need a lite for a error to be there

Changed my exhaust vvt solenoid, spark plugs and changed oil... I'm still getting same P0014 code (2015 kia optima)

You could try taking the solenoid out and looking to see if there are contaminants on it, power it with brief 12v pulses to see if it moves. Also could try putting a rag in the hole of the block where the valve was and crank it (not run) over BRIEFLY to see if any contaminants flow out of the internal ports. Reinstall and see if anything changes. It probably needs certain parameters before the light will go out though, like a full drive cycle.

Hi Danny ,from Australia here great video and information ,my daughters car and very neglected unfortunately car is not running well the engine won’t tick over unless reved hard and can hear the timing chain ? Rattle, a RAC engineer said something could be stuck with the VVT , before I changed the oil it( was low ) and cleaned the solenoid the car was stalling when it came to a stop would not run unless reved high ,stopping when slowing down, any help appreciated,I was going to replace the solenoid any help appreciated regards Alan.

It’s the exhaust VVT solenoid.

Try cleaning your throttle body and check your spark plugs.

Check engine light came on due to low oil. Happens on all kias and hyundai, most likely he will need the engine replaced for there's a recall on engine.

Yes the engine died about a month later and the Kia dealer replaced it for free because it was still under warranty.
