This edit is an excerpt from our surf movie entitled IMMERSION the movie, which has been awarded best movie at the Maui Film festival
'BEST MOVIE I'VE EVER SEEN" Barry Rivers [ Maui Film Festival director].
Code Red, was to date one of the biggest recorded swell in history. One surfer, Nathan Fletcher caught the biggest wave that day. An amazing ride in the darkness of Teahupo'o tube. Will he come out safe and sound? This ride made all people on boats wondering, wondering, eyes fixed on the bold surfer...until the wave caught up with all on boats and created chaos!
Teahupoo is the most dangerous wave in the world. Many gets hurt. A show of unbelievable wipeouts from daredevils.

You forgot to mention, it's not just a ride over the falls one time. It's a ride over the falls and getting slammed then a ride over the falls again and maybe a third time while you're getting shagged underwater during a major Maytag session, then finally making it to the surface for air! Knarls for sure bruh!! 🌊

When i moved close to the sea, like a 5 minute walk, i bought a longboard and a wetsuit and went on trying to learn to surf because i've always loved to be in the water. After about 15 times i just had to quit. The wall of murky water coming towards you, getting up and then falling off the board, being pulled under, feeling the power of the sea/current was just too overwhelming and scary after a while. And this was only the North Sea hahaha Much respect for these guys, brilliant movie.

I didn't gave up because of the actual surfing, i quit because of Thalassophobia. "From Wikipedia Thalassophobia (Greek: θάλασσα, thalassa, "sea" and φόβος, phobos, "fear")[1] is an intense and persistent fear of the sea or of sea travel. Thalassophobia can include fear of being in large bodies of water, fear of the vast emptiness of the sea, and fear of distance from land. It can also include fear of the unknown, of what lurks beneath."

1 of the few waves where there are even fewer words to describe the unimaginable powers, I grew up Southeastern coast of the USA, 15 foot hurricane swell is the biggest I have been in and just knowing how powerful that was I've been watching these videos of this break for years back when cloud break was the big deal, this wave is arguably the most dangerous and most rewarding, when Laird Hamilton pulled off his wave I remember being paralyzed trying to wrap my head around this beast. If you arent at peace with yourself and your world then this wave isnt for you, the thick of the lip is bigger than most waves average surfers ride, if ever given the chance I just want to be on a boat in the channel just to hear it feel the spray and watch people cheat death

I got caught by a 3 foot ocean wave near Nazaré when I was just having some fun with the waves, right as I turned to go back to shore. That washing machine experience? Totally true. Just ride it and you'll be fine but it sure was an interesting experience. I was also spitting sand for a day or so. Totally worth it though :) But that was just 3 feet. I can't imagine the power one of these waves can hammer you with. Lethally dangerous.

Waves do scare me..as a child I was on a beach in Cornwall in the UK...standing a couple feet from another girl who was about my age which was about 11..but this wave seemed to come from no where she caught it,I didn’t. She was literally swung off her feet completely ,did a somersault and stood back up on her feet..her whole front of her body was grazed by the sea bed,her face was scratched to bits as was her chest and legs...she spluttered choking and screaming. It didn’t get me though,I was a couple feet back from her..since then,I know the power of the sea...so l only paddle very close to shore. Thoses waves look horrendous..

The end of that video looked like a combat scene in slow motion. People falling out of their boats into the water and grabbing on to each other, then you see other guys struggling and holding on to the rail of other small crafts. That was full on Carnage being that close to a wave nearly taking you and all your buddies w/the boat over the falls.

I believe Dyl has been riding Teaupoo from the early days when it was relatively unknown, maybe discovering it while being part of Billabong’s Adventure Division. Many of the most renowned locals use his boards for the wave and trust in his knowledge of the wave. I grew up watching Dylan surf and I can attest that he is fearless in the scariest ocean conditions. Dylan and Laurie have solidified their place in the big wave community as the ones to watch and to follow..

You dont know what big waves are until you ride the tide maker at Center Parks Cumbria, some of those Mothers are 8 or 9 inches high. You have to show it respect or it will swallow you up in a heartbeat 😒

The lip of that wave is so thick, the sheer volume of water in that Barrell and the way that it jacks up. Purely in awe and absolutely mind-numbing!

Great stuff, what they don't say is there's a coral reef down near the bottom so when get in the washing machine, as we call it, the wave throws you on the reef time and again, and thats why the first guy had that gash and the other guys are all sliced up. Gnarly stuff

I'm 68 and seeing this is a freak. When the man said thick that was an understatement. Some of these waves are the reason you respect Mother Nature. This was evil and suicidal. Really unique would of been a great day to be a beach loafer. The dudes who took off on some of these sets.had to of felt their hearts common sense for SURE was a missing factor in survival judgement. Die hard surfers have a hard time being second best. Looks like some did it to gain a respect from those who.chose to watch. Surfing at times an be crazy It's a way of life that only free spirits can dream and achieve. This day was the ultimate challenge to see what you're made of.Wish I could of been there for sure I would of been an observer but if I was 25 again who knows. Lol to the thrill seekers you got my respect. You might never see a day like this again in your lifetime
